[He'd always been a little odd, even as a child, trying to get lost in the fantasy worlds of film. Partly to escape a bad childhood but it was also innate within him. He'd been through a lot in his life, mostly for the worse - much of that consequences of his own making - and that had shaped his peculiarities further.]

So, uh, I have a lot of skills but I'm not sure where to put them to good use here.
