[Damn but every time Balthier asks another question, another smart question, the giddier David finds himself getting with them. He's explained things before to people, but never this depth. And never with this much prodding to understand the hows and whys. Not with good questions that he's debated on his own time.]
Sometimes I know the whys of dislike, but that's rare. Usually only if there is some other knowledge underlying, say associating a purple sky with a meteorological event. I think it has something to do with how things that are knowledge are encoded differently from things that are opinions and memories. I mean, it's a lot easier to explain the skills stuff. A lot of true skills I copy, like ballet for instance, that's very heavily a muscle memory thing in performance, it's also rote memorization of forms and even the choreography of a particular recital. But things you know is a lot more complicated. So I've always theorized that my form of telepathy can only access certain parts of the brain.
Thus, no, not order of preferences, but if it was pure muscle memory that meant you always reached for the same boot every time because they're always in the same position and your arm always for the same boot first because of muscle memory. It's really intriguing. That said, if I touched you, I'd know your real name. You know that bit of knowledge on such a deep level that I'd know it too. But I wouldn't really understand the implications of it all unless you've got tons of memorized geneology and history. Which something tells me you do.
[What excites him? Other than this conversation? David has two answers come immediately to mind, one possible and the other not.]
Cooking and figure skating. Though the latter I'm on hold on getting back to until a god helps me steal my ability back.
