doctopoda: (the inescapable dread of existence)

[Otto doesn't say anything. He stands frozen where he is, actuators dipping down to his sides with the effort he's using to keep them still, until Spider-Man is gone.

There's an instinct to go to the edge of the roof and watch him swing off into the night. Instead, Otto turns away, letting out a harsh breath. That...that was bad. He may not know that Peter, but he can tell that it was worse than he even really understands. Maybe he's gotten too comfortable here already, why would he think that he could just - ?

The actuators curve in close around him, sensing his distress. Otto lifts a hand to ward them off.]

Don't.

[He's the one who's made a mistake, here. He shouldn't be surprised. If anything, it's surprising that the other Peters haven't reacted that way. He'll need to be more cautious in the future - god knows the last thing he wants is to cause any Spider-Man any more pain.

The night air's pleasant, just as he'd hoped, but it's soured now. Otto leaves the roof, closing the stairwell door carefully behind him, and goes back to his hotel room. He really should've just stayed there to begin with.]
