Balthier chuckles. "You're not the first person here who has said something of the sort." His former self would have been elated to be perceived as a living subject of a story. Maybe he still is. But there's a deeper part of him that's still viscerally uncomfortable with any sense of a predetermined path, and a storybook would certainly fit that bill.
"Well what's home like for you? Familiar things have a way of soothing -- I'm sure there are some comforts here." That has always helped when he's feeling homesick, and this isn't his first time being thrust into unfamiliar surroundings. Though it's certainly the first where no one has a shared history, and it's hard to find objects that remind him of home.
