i. i might need a hand to hold [hallelujah]

Rain pelts her face, waking her, and Diana realizes she is falling.

She doesn't remember slipping unconscious. She doesn't remember how she came to be midair. But as soon as her eyes open and she registers the ground below hurtling up towards her, she knows she doesn't have time to remember. Thunder cracks around her, lightning slicing the sky a beat later, but it doesn't frighten her; the sky is Zeus' domain, and she knows in her heart that no harm will come to her up here. She isn't so sure about the earth below, though.

She isn't tumbling around, which is one blessing. Years and years of training kicks in, and she's able to draw her knees up towards her chest, cross her bracers over her head, which is as much protection as she can give herself before impact. Her armored form slams into the concrete, decimating the area. Thunder snaps, lightning blazes as a new god is borne to the earth through the churning storm. The crater around her is vast, the street destroyed. She's dazed, only briefly, and when she stands, rubble falls away from her slick hair, not a scratch on her.

Something makes the small hairs on the back of her neck stand up; magic, energy, or perhaps something else, something new to her senses. She doesn't know what it is, but it makes a feeling of unease creep up her throat. She finally looks around at something that isn't just the ground below her feet, and can't help but stare. Through the rain, she can see the buildings are tall, taller even than those in hideous London, and the cars (she thinks they're cars, at least) are so unlike the few she's seen. There are a few people, dressed strangely, holding little boxes aloft, pointed at her, and she looks at them curiously for a few seconds.

Again, an energy sparks the air, but this time, it's one she recognizes. Diana tilts her head back, eyes going wide. "Get back!" She cries out, raising her arms above her head once more. Lightning strikes the crater where she stands, the flash blinding to anyone who wasn't lucky enough to look away in time.

ii. i don't plan on letting go [vloggers]

She still might not know exactly what's happening, but it's obvious that the people in this city need help. Diana doesn't think twice before helping anyone in her immediate vicinity: she lifts cars out of craters (not formed by her arrival, strangely enough), moves a tree that's fallen across the street, and even manages to catch a dog spooked by the storm and on the run from her owner. People ask her if she's a hero, push their strange little boxes into her face, but all she does is look on in puzzlement as she continues to ask if they're alright. None of them seem fazed by her appearance or her abilities, so unlike the other people she's met over the past several weeks.

It's strange. Probably the strangest thing that's ever happened to her.

Just after returning the dog, Diana hears the sound of breaking glass. She whips around, spying a young woman with a bat breaking into a storefront. She calls out, brows drawn together as she approaches--but the moment the girl turns to look at her, she finds that her feet seem stuck to the earth. Shock flashes over her face, but no matter how hard she tries, she can't move her legs. One hand goes towards the Lasso, but before it's within an inch of the lariat, it's frozen too. The young woman laughs, grabs some strange box out of the store window, and runs off, leaving a seething Diana frozen where she is.

iii. if i said i'm fine on my own here tonight [diadem]

We of the Guardian Alliance are committed to doing everything we can to get you home...

There are probably other things in Atomight's speech that should catch her attention, but that is what makes all other thoughts drop from her mind. Because only then does it really sink in that this... this isn't her own world. Or at least her own time. It should have been more apparent, from the cars and the buildings, but until she had suddenly been in that stark white room, it had seemed plausible that she was, somehow, just in another part of the world she'd only just started to know.

Diana stands in the beautifully appointed room at the Diadem hotel, the little box (cellphone, she reminds herself) warming in her hand. She has yet to change out of her armor, and her hair has only just started to dry from the storm, curling around her shoulders and face. Something inside her is on the verge of cracking, the events of the day and the realization that she is so displaced about to break through the veneer of calm she's managed to uphold for most of the day, when the door behind her clicks open. She turns to face whoever is about to come through the door, note quite fast enough to hide the mild panic and devastation on the verge of snapping her calm. "Hello?"

------

Later in the day, she'll wander around her floor of the hotel, perhaps peeking into any rooms with an open door, or running into another new arrival in the halls. Though she won't yet leave the hotel, she'll find all the exits, including the one to the roof, where she'll sit on the ledge with her feet dangling over the street, staring out at the insanely modern buildings of Excelsior.

iv. would you know to stay by my side? [wildcard]

[ooc; i'm down for anything! diana is brand new and a woman out of time, so she's going to have a lot of learning and adjusting to do. i'm fine with handwaving fist meetings and moving right into threads, if that's your jam. she'll be working on knocking out/rounding up the vloggers if she comes across any, but will spend the majority of her time in the storm helping people find shelter and clearing roadways.

my ooc intro is here, and feel free to pm me or add me on plurk at [plurk.com profile] watchet if you'd like to plan anything specific! ps i will match any log format, i'm not picky.]
