David had mentioned fighting but Balthier hadn't actually thought through it. He's impressed. He was never particularly good at hand-to-hand himself.

Unfortunately, Filter manages to get a click in as he goes down, and his flailing body means he catches just enough of Balthier to apply a new filter.

Three things happen. One, Balthier drops the illusion spells, making him and the bike visible. Two, he completely drops the spell powering the bike, sending him tumbling over the front of it. And three, he now has an eyepatch, a comically large pirate hat, and a hook for a left hand. None of which are going to go away until someone says "Aye aye, captain." Oh, and he's suddenly entirely preoccupied with finding buried treasure.
