[ jessica's not unused to falling, but it's never this fast and never from this high, and panic starts to grip her as she hurtles closer and closer to the ground with no way to slow down. her mind reels back to high school level physics and biology, trying to recall what positioning might cause enough wind resistance to make the impact a little less deadly, holding out her arms and spreading her legs and trying to lay horizontally, but none of it slows the movement. it's only a mild reassurance that she's not the only one falling; she spots several other figures as she gets closer to the ground. a flash of red catches her attention and jessica's attention is briefly drawn to it before she realizes how close the ground is now, and with a lack of any other ideas, she throws her hands out to catch the ground. her arms may end up being shattered from wrists to shoulders, but maybe she'll survive.
remarkably, she both survives and is unharmed, save for the sting of the impact of her body hitting the ground palms first. the ground doesn't seem to have fared quite as well as she has; there's a dent in the ground in the vague outline of where her body hit it, and jess gets uneasily to her feet, looking around.
the flash of red draws her attention again, and jessica blinks blearily at it, wondering where she's seen it before. then it comes to her - there was a situation in lagos that had gone wrong, a year or so back, and the woman behind it had been wielding the same kind of power.
she looks...different. jessica frowns as she straightens, still uneasy, but more due to the fall and the fact that she should be hurt, but is only shell-shocked and nauseous from landing face down on the asphalt. ]
