Who: Kaz
kazimieras & Jason Todd
robintohood
What: Jason picking up a kid from a clinic nbd nbd
When: now
Where: unnamed clinic in Central City
Content Warnings: none yet
After talking Jason into pretending to be his Responsible Adult, Kaz mostly chills in the little examination area and plays around with his phone while waiting for his rescue. (No/limited screentime only counts if you have a concussion, and he Definitely Doesn't, okay. He's a doctor, basically, he knows this stuff, and he barely even has a headache.) Eventually, a nurse lets him know that a Jason Todaro is here to see him and has him confirm that yep, that's his Responsible Adult before Jason's allowed past the entrance to see him.
He tucks his phone away just as Jason comes into the room. Kaz isn't looking too bad - there's a gauze pad taped to his left arm and scrapes along both elbows, and his jeans and shirt aren't looking their cleanest (like he's been on the ground). His head injury isn't particularly visible. "Hey, man. Thanks for coming."

He's pretty blase about it, given that it's not the first time he's ever gotten mildly injured treating a superhuman.

"And then you hauled yourself to the clinic?" He asks.

Translation: Kaz helped him in, and the clinic staff noticed he was bleeding and it snowballed from there.

"Good thing you two managed to get here," he says. "Sometimes you don't even realize you're hurt until later on."
no subject
Because they're doctors.

"Fine. A little sore. I just want to take a nap."
Someone heads over to Jason to officially catch him up on Kaz's condition and finish up paperwork for releasing Kaz. The verdict: very minor fall injuries (the bruises, scrapes, etc.) and the head injury. He's been looked at by a doctor, and they think the risk of concussion is low, but they want him monitored for the next day for worsening symptoms.
"We good to go?" Kaz asks.

The Kent household back home has a lot of bedroom-sharing. Don't judge them, there's only so much space to go around. Also, he may be living largely on takeout, but it's fine.

"Made any friends yet?"
no subject
Rude. Asking like he doesn't have friends. He's the friendliest! He has plenty of friends.

Not quite the same as the superhero league he has back home, but still.

"You're free to drop by at the bar again if you need more help too," he then adds.
no subject
It's not that he doesn't appreciate the offer! He just. He has to point that out.

While what Jason's saying is true, what he's omitting is that as the owner of bar meant to attract criminals, having a kid around there unexpectedly was risky.
no subject
Not that he necessarily intends to take Jason up on the offer, but it's nice to have. Especially if he needs an adult again at some point.
"This is me."
Well, the hotel is in sight, anyway. Jason doesn't literally need to walk him to the door.
no subject
"You found any work yet?" He asks, remembering that they talked about that when they first met.
no subject
So not what he was doing, but it's... something. Better than nothing, anyway.

"Good luck with that. There are plenty of other clinics to try out too if that one doesn't work," Jason says. "Just gotta weed out the shady ones."

This will absolutely end well.

"The staff at those places haven't been too bad it seems."

It sucks. Why can't every clinic just be like Mighty Med and recklessly hire a minor to be a doctor? Where's alternate universe Horace Diaz when you need him?
At least they've made it to the hotel. "Are you planning to follow me to my room, or..."
no subject
"Don't see why not. Just in case," he replies simply.
The head injury still has him a bit concerned.
no subject
He knows he invited Jason into this, but he didn't expect it to go this far.
no subject
Maybe he's being overprotective but kids having to take care of themselves younger than they should be seems to stir another side to Jason.
no subject
"Seriously, I'm fine."
