What: Birthday party for both Tim Drakes

[Today is both Tim Drakes' birthday. In honor of this, Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is closed for the night for a "private event."

On the ground floor where the bar is and where there's the most open space, most of the tables and chairs have been pushed aside while some have been rearranged to accommodate the party. A taco bar is lined up on one side. Hard and soft shells are available, along with a variety of fillings people can choose to make their own tacos.

A projector screen has been set up in front of the bar, alongside a laptop loaded with a movie library.

The birthday cake is a coffee and chocolate ice cream cake with vanilla frosting. It's safely stashed in the kitchen's fridge until it's time for dessert.

Though this family is absolutely dysfunctional and its members don't all come from the same universe or timeline, they're going to make sure two family members have a good birthday party today. Jackass guilds be damned]

[ kyle swats his shoulder lightly. ]

I know. I was there. What's your point?

[reneger]

My follow-through isn't shit an' I was visibly swinging at you.

( but fine, if kyle's going to swat at him jason will--give him his hair back. or what didn't get pulled out by him yanking on it, which is still most of it. )

[torchbearer]

[ kyle pats his hair down for a moment. ]

I thought you wanted to get a swing at my face.

[ slight teasing. of course jason always wants to punch kyle, just like kyle sometimes wants to dangle jason off a rooftop. ]

[reneger]

( he did, thanks. jason even waits for kyle to finish fussing with his hair, before he raises his fist once more and--swings it towards kyle's nose. )

[torchbearer]

[ that one he does block with a green hand for a reason. ]

If you make me lose concentration, we'll fall.

[ though it'd have to be a really hard punch to do that. ]

[reneger]

( that's better. kyle should be protecting himself from jason. he blocks, and jason lets up. )

A hit shouldn't be enough to fuck your head up that badly.

[torchbearer]

It wouldn't.

[ he shrugs. ]

( why are they still midair, is the real question. but jason's not moving to climb off. especially since kyle had just completely avoided what he'd asked earlier--)

Where was your head at?

[torchbearer]

[ hm. kyle has to ponder his answer for a moment. ]

Sorry. Sometimes it's hard to be in the moment.

[reneger]

You know that answers nothing, right?

( just checking to make sure kyle is, in fact, dancing around whatever it was. )

[torchbearer]

I don't really have a better one. I told you. Sometimes, I'm . . . just not holding on.

[reneger]

Knock that off. ( he reaches over to--pinch kyle's arm. ) I'm right here, we had a deal.

[torchbearer]

I'm not bailing.

[ he rubs his arm. ]

It's just hard sometimes.

[reneger]

I know.

( not in the same sense as kyle, but he's--been holding onto this for a while. this jason. the one who functions at family get togethers and has conversations like a normal person. )

Next time I catch you spacing out I'll bite you.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle huffs. ]

You sure you're not a vampire?

[reneger]

Haven't broken skin yet, so it's unlikely.

( but he is gesturing back to--the roof. )

Your carpet is the opposite of stealthy, we might wanna move it.

[torchbearer]

Not from a lack of trying.

[ kyle waves as the carpet gets them back on the roof and on their feet. ]

[reneger]

Trust me, sweetheart, if I wanted you to bleed, you'd be bleeding.

( but he's getting back up onto his feet, even if he does--falter a little. now is probably not the best time to try and accentuate how scary he can be. )

[torchbearer]

Uh-huh.

[ nothing is funnier than kyle getting threats. ]

[reneger]

( a bad answer, because it has jason turning his head to look at kyle, brow furrowed. )

You know I can't hear shit like you doubting me an' leave it without showing you you're dead wrong, don't you?

[torchbearer]

[ kyle shakes his head slowly. ]

It's not that kind of doubt.

[reneger]

( a sane person might ask what kyle means by that, because aside from doubting if jason could fuck him over, what else could it have been? but a sane person also wouldn't be up on a roof threatening to make their maybe partner bleed just to prove a point. )

C'mere.

( to jason, who is offering out a hand to kyle. )

[torchbearer]

[ kyle cocks an eyebrow, but he does reach out to take jason's hand with zero doubts. ]

[reneger]

( there's no violence. jason instead grips onto kyle's hand and pulls him in closer. drops his hand down so he can wrap both arms around his waist, tight, and slouches over enough to press his face in against his neck. )

I got you. Even if you're a fucked up mess of an ex whatever Ion is.

[ oh. kyle leans into that like he's starving for it. which he has been for some time now. ]
