[Today is both Tim Drakes' birthday. In honor of this, Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is closed for the night for a "private event."

On the ground floor where the bar is and where there's the most open space, most of the tables and chairs have been pushed aside while some have been rearranged to accommodate the party. A taco bar is lined up on one side. Hard and soft shells are available, along with a variety of fillings people can choose to make their own tacos.

A projector screen has been set up in front of the bar, alongside a laptop loaded with a movie library.

The birthday cake is a coffee and chocolate ice cream cake with vanilla frosting. It's safely stashed in the kitchen's fridge until it's time for dessert.

Though this family is absolutely dysfunctional and its members don't all come from the same universe or timeline, they're going to make sure two family members have a good birthday party today. Jackass guilds be damned]

Initial ID set up took some time, an' given you couldn't open a door without one, it gave all the imports somewhere to sit tight.

( and it was a secret that they were there, it wasn't as open as it is here. he almost preferred that--meant there wasn't anyone looking for them and the only ones who knew for certain were the ones responsible for them being there in the first place. )

[Jason frowns. He doesn't like how any of that sounds]

So like another prison. You ever fooled it?

Told you I got my knives passed doors they weren't meant to go in, didn't I?

( jason hears "secure" and thinks "how can i break it"? )

Wouldn't have to worry about that here. The prison bit, considering this place's just. . current-day Earth but not ours.

Yeah, adjusting to here didn't take as long. Just was annoying as shit starting from scratch again and rebuilding what I needed.

[Then dryly]

How was Arcadia's hospitality?

[reneger]

Great, up until I broke into their secret shit. Housing was nice, guards were idiots but easy to chat up, offered whatever I wanted to pad out my space. Almost made up for the sacrificial circles that are under it.

( he raises a hand up, fingers touching the bridge of his nose. )

Got into a fun fight with an old friend, too, which's always fun.

[Jason snorts]

Sounded like a good party. Shame that I missed it but screwing around with the guards here helped make up for it.

Who'd you fight?

[reneger]

You'll see.

( roy's getting there. jason bets he'll come around before all the bruising on his face has faded entirely. at least the roy caused bruising; he'll find other shenanigans to get into to fuck himself up again, likely before these do fade. )

I hope they drop by. It could be fun.

[Jason has no idea it's Roy his older self is talking about but he's not above taking a swing at him if given the right reason]

If you want a fight, you've got me.

( maybe not right now, but. jason's still throwing over a snarky grin regardless. )

You know I'd just love to help you find every crack in your defenses while kicking your ass.

[Jason smirks back, sizing him up]

You saying that's gonna be my birthday present?

It does sound appropriate.

( he stands up a little--straighter, shoulders squared. they're not going to go at it, not here, but. )

You want it earlier or later? 'cause day of, someone'd get in our way.

Earlier. But I think even if we do day of, Sleeper can keep them out until we're done.

[Jason would rather not have a complete repeat of their deathday fight]

We can go earlier and get a sitter just in case.

( last time tim figured it out by seeing jason in red hood's territory. which--was fair, jason wasn't trying to hide from tim. )

Two weeks earlier? The second. Gives us time to patch ourselves up in case one of these nerds turns around and tries to throw birthday plans at either of us.

[Jason snorts. He can see certain people wanting to throw a birthday party for them]

Deal. Got a place in mind? Can't be in my territory again after what happened before.

You leaving the city'd likely come across as just as odd as me being in your territory.

( which lowers their options a little. jason lifts his shoulders. drinks down some water. )

I was working out of a warehouse on the edge of Central. Abandoned it, but it should still be functional enough. You call in your referee, I'll bring in mine. We setting rules, or just settling with the "no kill" one, same as last time?

The latter. What fun is it to check defenses if you're not gonna give it your all?

[Jason sips some more water]

Who's gonna be your referee?

Usually I'd bring Damian, but that sounds like a shit idea this time.

( given what he knows about how damian and the rest of the bats here have been getting on. be a terrible idea to bring someone that junior here would feel the need to keep an eye on during, just in case. he wants all of junior's attention on him. )

Rayner, or Tim the eldest. I'll let you pick.

[There's a brief pause before Jason answers]

Rayner. Don't want this to turn into a big family drama again.

[Jason can imagine some of the comments they might get if their brothers find out about this plan]

I'll bring Sleeper. They'll understand.

[reneger]

I'd trust Tim to keep to himself. I knew he knew where I was last time. He'd leave it alone unless shit went real south, no commentary needed. But that's fair. Better to be safe than sorry.

( rayner it is. considering the first time he pulled rayner in and he and tony both just watched jason get the shit beaten out of him on purpose, he's betting kyle'll get it and just leave them be. )

So, the second? I'll send you the address, we can meet at sundown.

Works for me. Should be a nice, fun affair. Bring your usual gear too.

Fixed the shoulder. You won't be able to get through it again.

( which is good for both of them. junior can go hard, jason won't bleed out unless junior nails him in the head. internal bleeding is something else entirely, but at least then it'd still all be where it's supposed to be, right? )

We'll see. Got you in the hip too, didn't I?

[Jason doesn't regret the physical fight itself, only that younger Tim saw them and that both Jasons were too angry to shut up at that point]

That's different. Evil future Tim fucked me up.

( he's not clarifying, because it's way more fun to leave it as a half answer. )

Told you, don't need to be old to have creaky bones in our field.

True but I think we both still got a few more good years in us.

I'm not stopping 'til I'm dead, so I'd better.

( because he doesn't have a death wish, even if he is a little. . self-destructive. jason wants to live, he's got shit to do that he can't get done from beyond the grave. )
