( functioning is a strong word. but jason's too stubborn to let anything keep him down for long. he finds reasons to get back up. finds things to keep him moving, even when he doesn't feel like going anymore. he's tired, he wants it to end but he doesn't want to quit and he doesn't want to die which leaves him with--nothing. no options. just the endless struggle of trying his damn best only to fall straight onto his face again and have to spend time pulling himself back together.
