[ he found the place, but he hasn't done anything yet. the d'amicos have been hit a lot and heavily. by now, they're probably wise to some of their tricks. not all, and probably not kyle's but still. ]

( but he's raising a hand up to his domino mask, switching it to thermal imaging to keep an eye on the bodies inside the warehouse. drops down onto his ass on the rooftop, one knee raised up so he can rest his forearm up against it while he keeps watch. )

Usually when I hit these guys, it's to hit 'em. It's Junior's job to stalk 'em down.

I get that and I'm not against it.

[ kyle pauses. ]

But I saw them bringing in some weird tech inside. I'm not sure what it does.

( but he is watching--keeping track of what blobs are moving inside the building, noting approximately how far they are from the exits. he can't see much from this distance and he'll likely move in closer here in a minute, but. jason knows it's better to get something before rushing in, reckless need to endanger himself put aside. today isn't one that's leaning on being particularly self-destructive, he can play it safe. or at least safer. )

[ he's less worried about himself, of course, but also kyle doesn't particularly like hurting anyone, even thugs. there is no vicarious pleasure or fulfillment there. ]

( with an index finger raising to tap at jason's own temple. mildly insulting, maybe, but it's said with a playful lilt to his tone; less meant to hurt and more meant as play. )

[ kyle rolls his eyes. ]

Yeah, I did some recon on my own, shockingly.

( hand dropping to pay the rooftop right next to him. )

[ kyle blinks before moving closer. ]

( jason waits until he's settled. scoots a little closer after, so he can press his shoulder in against kyle's own and leans into him. just a little. )

He already gave me the "hurt him and you die" talk.

[ it was funny. kyle leans back, the touch already softening him. ]

He's adorable when he's being protective.

( fearsome and vicious, but jason wouldn't take him any other way. damian may have outaged him, but he's still jason's baby brother. )

[ kyle tilts his neck a little to lean against him. ]

Sorry, death threats get old after a while. It's a little hard to get worked up about them.

No, I get it. Kon told me early on after I'd shown up that if I laid a hand on Tim, he'd make me wish he didn't have a no kill rule.

( there's a small grin on jason's face, one that never quite reaches his eyes. )

I told him he'd better. Be a real shit boyfriend for Tim if he didn't fuck me over after pulling shit like that.

[ there's fights and there's fights. kyle may never grasp the internal dynamic between the bats, but he doesn't doubt they all care for each other. ]
