It's Friday October 27th when this housewarming shindig happens at the townhouse in Central he's recently purchased for himself and with it being so close to Halloween, he decides to decorate it a little. Or maybe a lot. He's still trying to get the hang of this whole Bruce Wayne thing.

Either way, the lower floor of the five-story townhouse is decorated for the spooky season and the one floor he'd prefer people to stick to since he's not the only one who lives here. There's food and refreshments available with something hopefully for everyone and if you're in the mood for something a little more spooky for a drink, there's this little guy lined up along one of the tables to be enjoyed, the flavor being a tart pomegranate with a touch of sweetness to it. Yes, it can also be alcoholic and yes, he has someone stationed there to ensure those of age to drink are the ones taking the alcoholic version of that.

On your way in or out, don't forget to say hi to the concierge for the night and feel free to take your complimentary pumpkin bucket filled with candy he has for guests. Don't worry about checking the candy for trackers. It's not like he would ever do such a thing. 😇 Happy Housewarming Halloween.

ooc notes: just a stupid little housewarming mingle thrown together where bruce makes an attempt to Do Something for his kiddos and friends he has here. Diana also lives within the townhouse and so friends of hers are welcome to stop by as well if she'd invite them. whoever the kiddos want to bring along with them are also welcome to stop by but please stick to the first floor where the shindig is or else bruce is going to be Disappointed aka i'm still figuring out the rest of the floors.

[Jason knows he just said he knows this Bruce isn’t the same as the Bruce he knows but his grown to be so wary and suspicious of a lot of things]

( he clarifies that. )

I know you can take care of yourself.

[Jason is feeling some kind of way about Bruce’s offer but he can’t quite pinpoint what it is. He just knows he doesn’t feel like violently rejecting what Bruce says]

Yeah. Thanks. Why the offer though?

( a sigh, he looks over to jason. )

Because I'm trying to be better.

( to make an effort. )

Well, he's starting out.

We all have rough patches at the start.

[Jason reminds himself again of what Diana said, including that this Bruce just might surprise him in good ways]

Yeah. Never heard of anyone starting off perfect with this job. What were your rookie mistakes after you got the ring?

[ oh jason. kyle blinks before replying. ]

My girlfriend got murdered.

[Jason stops dead in his tracks. That’s not how he expected the conversation to suddenly go]

Sorry.

[ She listens attentively, a small frown tucked between her brows as she sips at her drink. ]

You have my word, [ she promises. ]

But I would try to talk with them first in any case. We have a saying, my people: Don’t kill if you can wound, don’t wound if you can subdue, don’t subdue if you can pacify, and don’t raise your hand at all until you’ve first extended it.

I will do what I can for them, Jason, if they'll let me.

"Yes. I'd heard he was looking for a new place."

She gestures him back into the main room, then follows to pick up a drink. "Do you have any leads yet?"

It’s a good saying.

[Even though it’s something Jason doesn’t always live by]

Pacify or subdue should be enough for most of them. It’s a lot of petty theft and vandalism and hopefully it doesn’t go beyond that. I’ve been showing them youth shelters or at least giving them a place for a hot meal for a night.

[ kyle shakes his head, a little bemused. the bats tend to think they have a monopoly on trauma. ]

That was one thing. I wasn't a good team member, kind of headstrong and reckless on the Justice League.

Dylan reaches forward and gingerly takes her hand. He's nervous, but he's still beaming. Back home, he'd felt a bit like he'd been tossed aside and forgotten in the months following Knull's invasion; Here in this world, most people didn't even know about it. It felt nice to be remembered.

"Yeah." He pauses, than adds, "I mean, it wasn't just me. But my powers were similar enough to his so that once I got close and grabbed his hand, I could reach in and start breaking his connection to everyone he was controlling. Jean Grey helped me a lot." He could still remember how it felt to have the force of her power backing him up.

"And then when that was done, I think she used me as a waypoint to get into his head."

I expect they'll need more than that to solve the problem permanently, but that's good work, Jason.

[ She considers, thoughtful. ]

Are they based here in Central?

"Oh." Dylan looks down, studying his drink a bit. "I guess that makes sense. I didn't even know I had siblings for most of my life... but I'd probably end up fighting most of them, too, if we were all under one roof."

Circumstances were different, sure, but... close enough, right?

You had to do a lot of convincing with the old man so that he could trust you?

As far as I can tell, yeah. The thing about kids like them is you gotta gradually earn their trust and there might be some backsliding because of how suspicious they are about outside help. So it’s a lot of small steps first.

[Jason knows all too well what that’s like]

I don't know about that. Your old man never liked Lanterns.

But we worked as a team. That paved the way, I suppose.

That’s usually worth something, even with him.

"At least you and Sleeper get along?" Tim offers, given that he's not sure I was an only child for most of my life but my parents fought a lot is the best way to respond.

Never said otherwise.

[ "You are our lantern, Kyle. We trust you with our lives." ]

But he's a complicated guy.

He shrugs up a shoulder. "It's hard to find someplace that fits all our needs. And is in our budget, though that's expanded a lot more recently."

Which is cool. It's nice to be vigilantes with some money again.

( he looks down again. milling over something. over thoughts and conversations he's had in the past when he was there. looking over to jason then, gently, he places a hand on the other's shoulder, though he's free to shrug it off if he wants. )

You're a good brother.

"I'll take the lecture in your stead as payment for the drink."
