Oh so very, very much danger. And he doesn't get it. Perhaps wouldn't get it unless it was spelled out for him. Because the commands aren't holding as strong right now, and Thunderclap has already done the math. Kid will probably survive. But if he gets them to Starstruck, then the kid absolutely will blow enough time that the light would spread, and Thunderclap might not be able to reach with enough power to deal with the mess.

That's the warning Nolan gets before Thunderclap drops him. At least he's kind enough to do it over a rooftop. One with a pool. And even drop the kid into the pool. He assumes Nolan can swim. Hopefully.
