Coughing and spluttering, Nolan gasps for air. He wants to, for a moment, believe Thunderclap had a change of heart and did the right thing. But he knows there was a command on his lips.

"You're making this difficult," he coughs. "You know what I want and it's not even against what you want! I'm going to tell Starstruck to stop but I can get there faster with you."

He's a stubborn kid, and he's trying to live up to this impossible situation. It truly does not occur to him how dark and committed other hearts can be.
