Oh David is completely overestimating his wellness. His entire goal is to go only so far as is needed to get himself mobile. More mobile than he had been before. This, though, was something else. The relief his lover was offering him was something he didn't expect to see, and in a way, it was more comforting than he knew how to explain.

It is a relief to see his lover returned, though. Once the door opened he tried hard to wipe away the tears before there was comment on it. in a way it's nice that there isn't comment. It's nice that there is action though. The comfort, even if it's not truly the degree either would wish, earns a broken little sob from his lips. And yet it's still a deep comfort.

"Thank you," he whispers, hoping Balthier just... doesn't choose to acknowledge it fully. That would be easier.
