Who: Bucky
deadthenred & OPEN
What: Bucky gets a job at a seedy convenience store, that's it that's the prompt.
When: Throughout the month, late at night.
Where: Said seedy convenience store.
[ Here's the problem: Bucky has a lot of specialized training, but no degree, no work experience he can prove, and even the few things he's done in his life that he's proud of. "I was Captain America one time" doesn't explain much. No one's hiring for a job punching fascists, and it never paid that well, either.
Bucky thinks maybe this isn't such a sorry thing. He never got the chance to do anything but fight, back home, and if he ever gets back he knows he'll keep going. But he dropped out of school at age fifteen and has no references and forged paperwork, so the list of jobs available are limited. Maybe he could find work washing dishes, but Bucky had enough KP duty 80 years ago to last him a lifetime.
And that is how he winds up working swing shift at a run down convenience store in the bad part of Central City. There's no kindness in retail and his coworkers are mostly high or absent, but it's undemanding work and great people watching. He gets paid under the table but the owner doesn't stiff him, which is surprising.
And since there's a lot of crime around, there's also a chance of vigilante activity. Maybe someone in uniform will drop in for a $2 energy drink. Or maybe someone will try to rob the store and an intrepid hero will come to his rescue. ]
