There’s a pause while Jason tries to find the right words to describe the experience. It’s occurred to him multiple times that had he and Sleeper not experienced those alternate lives, what happened after their return would have been very different.

“Like we were meant to be,” he finally admits. “Those alternate lives we had involved us having been bonded for a long time. It felt good knowing we would always have each other’s backs. We knew exactly what the other was thinking and had total trust in each other. Plus, if anything were to happen to me, Sleeper would automatically take over and help.”
