There are other contestants around, and above more of those drones buzzing about, some of them trying to hype people up, others oh-so-helpfully going over the rules. Compete against other contestants for the chance to win valuable supplies, partnerships of two allowed, yada yada. He listens for a few moments, then quietly reaches up to fiddle with his choker.
Supplies, huh? Well, if these idiots want him lasting more than a day then there's a chance those supplies include electricity. At the very least, winning some food and water would be a good idea.
