[ The antique table has both leaves in it, extending from the dining room into the living room with twelve chairs around it. It's got a stately tablecloth and pale gold napkins. All the places are set with white china trimmed in gold, except one, which is green and gold and clearly for Loki, with a matching cup. There are name cards. There's a seating chart. The far wall of the dining room sports a buffet laden with stunning food in matching dishes, and the kitchen counter serves as a bar with a ridiculous amount of nice wine and alcohol.

The furniture in the living room has been rearranged to accommodate the table. The windows and doors are open to create a breeze and the back porch has additional seating. If people are looking for privacy, they can disappear to the basement, which is just a storage room, bathroom, and laundry unit, or upstairs where there is a loft study, a bathroom, and two bedrooms. One is locked. There are no bathrooms on the ground floor so excuses abound.

There’s also Romantic piano music playing on an honest-to-God gramophone. The whole house is restored original wood, antique furniture, old books, and nice art. Balthier is extremely pleased with his ship-like house and happy to finally show it off. He also asked Strange to enchant it to make it more or less metaproof for the evening.

TLDR:
-There will be a fine meal and plenty of alcohol
-Balthier will be giving Loki poison as condiments at some point (don’t @ him David and Billy) ((definitely @ him))
-There’s music if anyone wants to dance
-There are private places to slip into
-The house has been metaproofed to some extent by Stephen but Balthier will frown upon breaking his stuff

[ He settles in place and sprinkles some cadmium in his glass, sipping his wine to test the taste before taking a real swig. ]

[ There's a literal buffet the piece of furniture that the style of dining is named for, Loki. ]

I hope that doesn't ruin the body of that wine.

I have to serve myself? At a dinner party?

[ He looks confused for a moment before aloof, almost comically so as he scoops up his plate. ]

I'm only staying because whoever cooked has some decent smells wafting out of your kitchen.

I am wounded and insulted that you question my hosting and prefer David to me.

[ This is a dinner party not a restaurant, Loki, really. ]

You go to Asgard for Feasting Day and see if you have to serve yourself, then you'll know what a dinner party is.

I humbly apologize for being a man, not a god.

[ Scions help him he would prefer to never even entertain the idea of being a god. Or among them. That's probably an invitation he'd turn down. ]

Also, that is clearly a festival thrown by a royal house, not a private dinner party. Us humans have limitations.

It's a day for everyone, just because I eat at Odin's table doesn't mean I'm celebrating any harder than the commoners.

[ Hmmm, what does he have to choose from ... All the meat! ]

Next time I invite the entire realm, you have my word that I will hire waitstaff.

[ As to food, take anything -- just compliment David. ]

I'm glad to hear it.

[ Loki picks out a plate of meats and some fancy garlic breads, veggies too because he's not Thor and actually eats healthily. Back at the table, he starts testing poisons and using them as spices ... ]

[ While Loki was loading his plate, Balthier has produced a small notebook because he's absolutely making a record of what poisons taste like. ]

I want a full report. What do they taste like and which is your favorite?

[ Loki pauses with his fork halfway to his mouth. ]

You're going to study me as I eat?

You've already insulted my hosting, so this can't be worse. I'm making notes for next time we feed you.
