Who: Amadeus Cho [personal profile] chulk and Yelena Belova [personal profile] siracha
What: Two seemingly different investigations collide
When: Uh ages ago, this is heavily backdated
Where: around the streets of Central City

[Amadeus hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but those other kids were being far too loud and he had nothing better to do while he was out running errands. The kindly ajumma who let him stay in her spare room had wanted a few things picked up at the local Asian store and he'd been happy to go grab them himself as well as wait around while the last items on his list were being prepared. He mills around outside, bags held in one hand idly calculating the exact angle he'd need to throw a basketball that it would bounce off enough objects to go through the net on the other side of the road.

And there they were.

There were five teenagers, loud in the way all teenagers tended to be around their close friends. One of them is particularly animated with wild gestures and his insistence at his friends.

"This is the real deal, I swear! It'll make us just as strong as Atomight!"

The others laugh and jeer in disbelief and it only makes their friend even more worked up until he brandishes a card at them.

"Look I'm not lying."

What had been idle background noise now has Amadeus' attention. From where he stands he can't make out the details on the card, but the curious reaction of the group tells him this looks important. He glances back at the store he was waiting outside of and then back at the group as they continue to make their way down the street. Well, he had nearly everything. He'd have to come back later to pick up the rest and he decides to tail the group.]

[ Yelena doesn't really keep friends, either because of some personal preference or because she isn't sure how — but she keeps track of the faces she sees, recognizes the familiar ones and watches out for the unfamiliar ones. She notices right away when the staff changes abruptly at the coffee shop across from the apartment she shares with her sister. It's the place she goes to before she starts her day, a part of the routine she's set up during her time here in Central City. The shift of the one girl who greets her every morning, no matter how early, is filled now by a less friendly, gangly teenager, and she finds that she misses that familiarity, that friendliness.

But that isn't all.

At first it does not seem so weird, people change jobs all the time, but there are murmurings about the barista's family and her brother, and that piques Yelena's interest. It leads her to trailing the clues while looking for the missing barista and winding up at her apartment ... just a little breaking and entering, no big deal, it's not like she's wrecked any locks or broken any windows. She's good at what she does. And it is not so hard to find the address for either, but it is a pain to find anything useful when the place looks so — normal. Immaculate.

There is a worn and weathered envelope folded into squares in her pocket when she leaves, casual as they come. She's headed along the same street as Amadeus and the gang of boys, not because she's got any intention of following them but sometimes the right coincidences really do fall into place. Especially in a city full of superheroes. ]
