[Luckily for Harry, Jaskier is too busy rolling his eyes at him to notice the tremor of that hand, but who knows for long this may stay secret considering how much Jaskier likes to people-watch. He waves a dismissive hand a Harry, huffing like the brat he still is at forty-two.]

If that's what you wrote, then sure, that's exactly what it is.

[But hey, at least the order is accepted, even if Jaskier is sure the chosen adjective is a few points under "actually good" just to keep messing with him. The nerve, the scandal! He should be ranting at him, but he's a man with a fucking mission.

After taking a sip of his own devilish sweet concoction (gosh, he loves chocolate and caramel syrup, what great inventions), he turns toward Harry with raised eyebrows.]

Well then, Harry - I believe you owe me a story and the introduction to a whole new kind of desert. [Heh, get it.]

[ Harry laughs, taking another sip of his mocha and gesturing for Jaskier to follow him. ]

Right this way. There's a dispensary on the way back to my apartment.

[ He starts walking, expecting Jaskier to follow. ]

As for the story behind why that's my favorite song... [ The hand not holding the coffee cup comes up to rub at his neck. ] I dunno. There's not a whole lot to tell, other than the fact that my dad died pretty recently and I had to grow up real fast. I inherited his company, but the board resented me for it, and basically forced me out.

[ There's more to it than that, but Jaskier will have to pry further to find out. ]

[And following Jaskier does, giving Harry all the attention of the world. He continues to sip his drink as they walk, tensing for a moment when Harry finally explains his situation. There's no relating to feeling bad about his father dying (Jaskier will toast in celebration the day the man finally kicks the bucket, honestly) but the whole situation feels so familiar it almost hurts. To be fair, Jaskier has an older brother who would get the worst of it, but still. He knows how it goes and what is like to be resented for it.

Is he saying it aloud though? No. Not yet, maybe? Harry is a cool guy but to reveal so much...]

My sincere condolences. [He says with a serious tone after humming the song a bit to remember the lyrics. Yeah, that tracks.] Grief shouldn't be paused or ignored for the sake of coin, but I imagine this "board" did not care about your father, merely about his signature at the bottom of contracts. Is inheriting the company something you wanted, or were you just doing it for your father's memory?

[ Harry sighs, sipping his mocha while they walk. ]

Inheriting Oscorp was always in the cards. I'm an only child, and I don't think my father would have left the company to anyone else, if he could help it. I just... thought I would have more time.

[ Maybe if he was older, wiser, more prepared, the board wouldn't have turned against him. Or maybe, they had always been waiting for Norman to croak so that they could wrest control from his iron grip. Who knows? ]
