Shop visit for Balthier | pre-event

[Jaskier is the kind of man that keeps his word... well, most of the time anyway. As long as it isn't very inconvenient! That said, when it comes to acquiring pretty things, he's definitely your man.

Dressed in a casual summer outfit, he shows up at Balthier's shop right after lunch. He doesn't directly go up to his friend, though, he wanders around the store oooh and aaahing at everything, poking as well. You'd think twenty years of traveling with a witcher and seeing cursed objects would've taught him better, but this is Balthier's place so he's sure it's fine.

Probably.]

My good captain! [He suddenly exclaims, still without turning to look at Balthier. Too many shiny things!] I hope you saved those folios for me as promised!

[ Balthier recognizes the man as soon as he walks in, and honestly, he may have to ask where he shops because summer clothes have been a struggle for this Victorian-taste pirate.

Also, Jaskier, please, the cursed objects are in the back. This place isn't openly dealing in illegal magical goods. Especially after the whole fear curse debacle, but he supposed Jaskier may not have heard about that. That makes one soul in Excelsior. ]

I'm a rogue, not a petty liar. [ No, he's absolutely both. ] They're in that cabinet. [ A big pretty thing, 18th century, with flat drawers. He'd normally make some comment about handling them but he has no doubt Jaskier has the proper reverence for historical art. ]

Are you now? [He asks with a laugh, tone obviously teasing.] I thought being a pirate required you to be both.

[He winks at Balthier before walking towards the cabinet, which is indeed a beauty. It reminds Jaskier of the furniture he had back in his rooms in Oxenfurt, which means...]

I might have to pay you another visit later when I finally find my own place - the furniture is gorgeous.

[At this rate, Jaskier will be Balthier's salary for three months! After walking around the cabinet for a closer look, he finally opens it and grabs the folder inside, which he carefully brings to the counter. Then, he takes out a handkerchief from his pocket and uses it to open the folder and even more carefully go through the folios, ooohing and aaahing some more.]

These are fantastic, my friend. Truly a wondrous find. May you know the story behind them, by any chance?

[ He enjoys elegance and a challenge, Jaskier. Come now. But he's smirking right back. ]

[ With how things have been going for metas, he's not going to leave anyone out to cruel winds, not when he's comfortable and can support. But he will certainly fleece the guilds.

His attention finally raises from what he's doing as Jaskier lovingly and carefully handles the antiques. Well well, he can respect that. ]

I don't off the top of my head, but I can find out for you. [ By find out, he means ask his psychomimetic boyfriend to use his powers to find the story of any of the antiques in here. It's something he quite enjoys, honestly, and tries not to abuse unless he has good reason. ]
