Oh, no, just saying hello. You don't run into too many other people, traveling like this.

[He's a New Yorker, he gets the concept of not bothering people on the streets, but something about the rooftops makes it feel different. If nothing else, they're part of the same metahuman club; may as well be friendly.]

[ Well...now Chris feels a bit awkward. She rubs the back of her head, trying to think of a response. ]

Alright then. Um, are you part of the Alliance? I just arrived recently, and I'm still tryin' to figure out what's what around here.

I am. Doctor Otto Octavius.

[He'll lean forward to offer a handshake, if she's close enough.]

I've been here...about nine months now. [He says it in the tone of someone who hadn't quite realized it had been that long.]

[ Chris shakes the hand, though she feels a little awkward to do so. ]

Doctor, huh? Does that mean you built those? [ She indicates the arms, though that was probably immediately obvious. ] Nine months, though? Huh. Out of curiosity do you know that dum-err, do you know Gungnir?

[doctopoda]

I did. [Gungnir...that takes him a second to place, then he nods.] Ah - yes, she's the one who sings when she fights, isn't she?

[It was definitely notable!]

We fought a giant robot together in August. I have to admit, it was mostly her. Very impressive.

That's right. She and I are from the same world.

[ Her eyes widen, though, at what he said. ]

A giant robot? Like from an anime or something?!

[ To be fair, giant mecha haven't been on the list of things that Symphogear's fantasy kitchen sink has thrown at her. ]

[doctopoda]

[Otto raises his eyebrows. Chris, what about this man makes him seem like an anime guy?]

It was like a Transformer. They're still fixing the buildings - back in Excelsior, not here.

[ Chris nods. So exactly like what she said. ]

Wait, was that what damaged everything and made everyone so mad at metas?

[doctopoda]

That was part of it. We had a robot uprising, a lot of people fell into interdimensional cracks. The universe nearly fell apart. It wasn't anything we did - more like an extension of the problem that brought us here.

[So it's not really logical that people blame them for it...but, you know, that's also how that kind of thing always goes.]

[ Okay what. ]

Okay, nobody told me about all that! What the fuck?! It's not gonna happen again, is it?!

I can't promise anything, but hopefully not. Where I'm from, apocalypses don't come around all that often.

...I wish I could say the same, but I can't.

[ More like came up just short of nuclear Armageddon. ]

Though, uh. Thanks for telling me, honestly. I have a bone to pick with my friend who got here before I did now, but all the same...

I'll tell you this, she handled the giant robot remarkably well. As if it were a daily thing.
