[ Much like Loki's last party-venture, this is set up very much in the same vein. a large ballroom for dancing needs. Tables and waiters passing around hors d'oeuvres and drinks. At the entrance of the ball room, there’s a fancy mask waiting for you if you don’t have one already. There’s a strict dress code for the event this time and Loki expects everyone to dress accordingly.

The masks also have a spell attached to them. They’ll afford you complete privacy. No one will recognize you under the mask. Unless, of course, you take it off and let them know. Perfect for the party guest who may want to indulge without causing a fuss. Hit up a partner and see where the evening takes you.

This event wouldn’t be complete without candy, of course. There are candies arranged on the tables in all types and colors. In front of them is a small description regarding each kind of candy. Be sure to read them carefully, as Loki has added a little . . . extra to the sweets, to give them a little . . . zing. ]

pre-Masquerade (closed to Chrissy)

[ If there's one thing for Robin to get used to here in the future, it's the amount of mailing lists you can sign up for. It's how she keeps track of things happening around Central City, and how she's getting to know Sunset Falls now that they're moving there. She saw a writeup about a masquerade ball happening at the theater, and thought... Maybe this is her chance.

She pokes her head into Chrissy's room one afternoon when the two of them are home together. ]

Hey... [ She bites her lip, trying to shove down the butterflies in her stomach. Just ask!! ] How do you feel about costumes?

[ Having successfully wrangled a plus one to the ball, Robin and Chrissy arrive, channeling the most fantastic movie of 1986: Labyrinth, with Robin having tousled up her hair to dress as Jareth, and with Chrissy in an elaborate white dress. They proceed to have fun, both together, and separately as they maneuver around the room on their own from time to time. At the refreshments, Robin takes up a piece or two of the white chocolate, and starts spilling her honest feelings to anyone who will listen. ]

It's a little freaky, right? Not knowing who anyone is, with the masks... I mean, for all you know, I could be a serial ax murderer. But here you are, eating snacks with me!

C'mon, serial axe murderer? The Goblin King is way too classy for that!

[ This is said with a broad grin and an exaggerated wink from behind Doreen's mask. She pops a white chocolate herself! ]

Besides, serial axe murderers aren't known for their good taste in movies, let alone appreciation of David Bowie!

[As luck would have it, Chrissy is currently standing in front of the full length mirror in her room, admiring herself in a pair of black cat ears. Halloween was always a fun thing back in Hawkins, and she finds herself really wanting to participate in her first big holiday outside of the hospital. So of course she went out to grab some bits and pieces to try and decide what she wanted to dress up as.

Robin's interruption is more than welcome, as it always is. She's grinning and it's visible through the mirror, but she still gives a quick turn to look over her shoulder with a smile.]

Are you asking me to dress up with you?

[She sounds incredibly hopeful that it's exactly what Robin wants to do. So hopeful that she feels a little anxious, and can't stop herself from reaching up to nervously fidget with her ponytail.]

[ Jayce was also trying one of the white chocolates, which is why they were close to one another when she started to speak. He turns to face Robin and, of course, he fails to recognize her at first or her themed costume, both because of the mask and the fact he's never seen Labyrinth before. But it's an amazing-looking set up, so who is he to criticize it? His white, gold and black outfit pales in comparison. ]

Well, I hope not. A murder would definitely sour the night. [ He says with a small smile, then pops the white chocolate in his mouth. He's wearing a mask that he had bought himself and there's no magic spell on it. She should probably recognize him with a little issue, given Jayce's size and complexion. And because the devil works fast but the magic in the chocolate works faster, he adds; ] People have tried to kill me before, it's not fun.

[Hunter doesn't have experience with horror movies as a genre, to think of axe murderers as just a fiction trope. He also wasn't paying attention to the chocolates because he doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, so he has no idea they might be making people more chatty.]

[He gives her a long look, head craning back.]

That's a really weirdly specific thing to announce that you're not to a stranger. Basically out of nowhere.

[Unfortunately, the chocolate made her comment about the murderer thing to someone who used to be his world's equivalent of a cop. It's a weird thing for a 16-year-old to have been, and to be fair it's pretty messed up by his world's standards, too, but it still is what it is. His first instinct is to frog-march her to the nearest precinct for questioning.]

[But he has no special role in this world and his role in his world was bogus anyway. It was all for a terrible lie. He was duped like so many others into unknowingly helping the Emperor set up a magical genocide.]

[Since he can't really do anything with her, and doesn't have the authority to, he settles for just squinting at her for a bit, staring her down. He gives her room to babble more, expression inscrutable.]

[Jason's dressed like a steampunk aristocrat (sans cane, sunglasses, and hat) and has a skunk stripe in his hair. He also has his own mask to match his outfit as he doesn't trust the ones provided by the other Loki for now.

He's also picked up a piece of white chocolate but hasn't eaten it yet when Robin talks to him. He lightly snorts]

That's the fun of it, isn't it? Last I checked, the Goblin King should be doing a hell of a musical number in this kind of shindig.
