[OPEN/CLOSED] A Robin came a-knockin’

Who: Jason Todd robintohood and you
What: Jason’s been deaged back to his early Robin years. Antics ensue. Also contains one special closed prompt

[Somewhere in Central City is a small boy in a red, yellow, and green costume. It’s hard to forget someone in a colorful suit like that.

That is, assuming you can catch a good enough look at him. He’s effortlessly using his grappling gun and parkour skills to swing around and jump rooftops. You might see him as he tries to get a lay of the land.

Alternatively, you might see him fearlessly (or recklessly, depending on how you look at it) pounce right on top of a would-be armed mugger. He might not know where he is but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop fighting crime. It’s what any good sidekick would do.]

Attic Safehouse above the Descendant Bar (Closed to people who use the safehouse)

[Later that night, Robin is exhausted but isn’t ready to trust just any place to rest for the night. For now, he’s just perched on top of the Descendant, near the attic window]

"Maybe," Jason says trying to keep a cool exterior. He's trying to be professional but truthfully, he's curious to check most of the books. It's nowhere as large as the collection at Wayne Manor but he loves libraries all the same. "I haven't read some of these before. The owner bought them?"

"Some of them were bought, some of them were donated. It's run like the Little Free Library. A collection for everyone," they explain. "People are free to add, borrow, or remove books from the collection, although outright stealing of multiple titles is frowned on, but sometimes...you forget."

[robintohood]

Jason nods, intrigued.

"Yeah, I've heard of that before. It's a nice idea if you don't have a regular library nearby," he says. "So the owner's a big reader too?"

[definecat]

"We share a book club," Sleeper says, wondering how Jason will feel about this when he's back to normal.

[robintohood]

A bar owner who has the same name as him and who also likes books. Then there was the mention earlier about age reversal. It still doesn't feel right though. Jason has no memories of being an adult. He's still just a kid.

"What else does he like?" Jason asks. There was a mention of motor oil earlier which lines up with him liking cars and motorcycles, even though he can't drive yet. Is this all just a coincidence?

"Not sure what I should tell you. I know he really hates clowns, and likes punching bad guys, but more than that? I'd say you should ask him, but..."

That would be difficult considering the situation.

[robintohood]

"He's busy?" Jason finishes. "Can't say I blame him for not liking clowns though. They're usually bad news. And who doesn't like beating up bad guys?"

Jason doesn't seem too troubled talking about clowns or beating up bad guys. It's all just part of being a Gotham vigilante. He's especially learned to take great care of he ever faces the Joker.

"You might say that."

It's really hard to figure out what to say. At least Dylan is finally allowing himself to sleep, so he's only dealing with one kid at a time.

"There's definitely something to be said for letting aggression out on worthy targets."

[robintohood]

"It's a great feeling," Jason grins. "Just let loose on someone who really deserves it and wham! It's great day! Not just for yourself but whoever you saved too."

Though Bruce has told him more than once that he needs to scale back on his aggression and Jason does try to listen, sometimes it just felt better to cut loose.

"It's awesome being Robin!"

"I wouldn't know. I've never been anything but Sleeper."

[robintohood]

"Are you called that because of your powers?" Jason asks, curious.

[definecat]

"I'm the subtle one in the family. Although I am very good with putting people to sleep if I want to. Or finding a nice sunbeam to nap in." It's hard to explain symbiote names at the best of time.

"It's more an approximation since our names are more...emotions, sensations. You can't really share that verbally."

[robintohood]

Jason nods, listening. It would make sense there are aliens who wouldn't have the same kind of naming conventions as humans. It's a big universe after all.

"It's not a bad name," he says. "You could do worse."

[definecat]

"One can usually do worse. And I spend most of my time as a feline, so it's not like I need to play to human norms. It contributes to my instagram mystique," they say, amused again.

"So why Robin? Unless that's actually your name." Which, well, they know better.

[robintohood]

"Why not?" Jason cheerfully chirps as he points to his red chest. "I fly around and I kinda look like one too."

He's proud to have gained the mantle and wants to do right by his new adoptive older brother.

[definecat]

"I'm almost certain no robin is green, even if some might have yellow."

Are they being obtuse? Probably.

"Of course, I try not to eat things that have turned funny colors, so I do pay attention."

[robintohood]

"Ha!" Jason laughs. "I wouldn't be good for your stomach anyway. The indigestion would hurt like crazy for one thing."

[definecat]

"I mostly eat pests like rats if I'm going for live prey. Although I have considered the odd criminal..."

[robintohood]

"Harsh," Jason murmurs. He can't tell if Sleeper's serious. Though then again, some criminals probably deserve to be threatened like that.

"Have you ever eaten humans before?" He then asks. He knows it's highly unlikely Sleeper will give him a real answer but he wants to see how they respond.

[definecat]

"Not really. I don't like to talk to my food." Also, they like humans in general, although if there were need, they wouldn't rule it out completely.

"I can get needed nutrients elsewhere, like chocolate."

[robintohood]

"Really?" Jason asks, surprised. "Because of what's in the cocoa?"

[definecat]

"Naturally." And everyone focuses on that. Not that they mind the odd chocolate bender, as long as Dylan doesn't post it online.

"Granted, plenty of other foods are high in phenylalanine, but chocolate is definitely the tastiest."

[robintohood]

Jason giggles.

"Chocolate wins for a lot of things," he smiles. "Must've been really nice for you to discover it."

"I was spawned here on Earth, so I've always had access."

[robintohood]

"Huh. Are there a lot of you guys on Earth?" Jason asks, curious.
