[Somewhere in Central City is a small boy in a red, yellow, and green costume. It’s hard to forget someone in a colorful suit like that.

That is, assuming you can catch a good enough look at him. He’s effortlessly using his grappling gun and parkour skills to swing around and jump rooftops. You might see him as he tries to get a lay of the land.

Alternatively, you might see him fearlessly (or recklessly, depending on how you look at it) pounce right on top of a would-be armed mugger. He might not know where he is but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop fighting crime. It’s what any good sidekick would do.]

Attic Safehouse above the Descendant Bar (Closed to people who use the safehouse)

[Later that night, Robin is exhausted but isn’t ready to trust just any place to rest for the night. For now, he’s just perched on top of the Descendant, near the attic window]

Do you have powers, too? Can you jump real high or real far?

Ha! I kick butt even without powers!

[Jason takes out his grappling gun, fires the hook near the rooftop of a taller building nearby, and swings. He manages to do a couple of impressive acrobatic flips before nailing the landing]

[Jason fires his hook and does more acrobatics as he lands near Doreen again]

Ohmygosh. I am so asking for a grappling hook for my birthday!

[ This is not a birthday wish that will come true! ]

Do you want to race? Or just go for a run or something? I... sorry, I've never met anyone my age who does stuff like this, we don't have to if you don't want to, or if you have somewhere to be!

[It's tempting because it's not often he gets to play with kids his age while as Robin. But he needs to be responsible first]

What about your parents? Would they be okay with that?

They're...

[ Doreen's expression goes a bit wooden, because she was also terrible at lying when she was a little kid! How do you say "my parents aren't here to worry about me because I got teleported to another dimension" without getting sent to a police station or something? ]

Maybe? Probably... I have adult supervision! She can come with me, her name's Tippy.

[ A grey squirrel with a pink bow (that Jason may recognize when he's back to normal) skitters up Doreen's shoulder and gives him an unmistakable 'points at eyes, points at you' gesture. ]

[... Did he just get glared at by a squirrel? Jason was warned that being a vigilante was gonna get weird but jesus]

Are you sure? I don't want them to worry.

They won't.

[ The answer is a little too quick. ]

They're... away. On a business trip? [ That sounds credible, right? It's easier to explain than the whole 'kidnapped to another dimension but that Loki kid says its only temporary, so don't worry about it'. ] But they know I'm super tough, and can handle anything.

[Jason remains unsure]

Who's watching you then?

Um.

[ Oh boy, he might not take this well. ]

... Tippy is? And a bunch of her friends. [ She nods towards her open window... which is now crowded with about two dozen squirrels, all clambering to see over each other. ] It's complicated.

[That's a hell of a crowd]

Whoa. They're all your friends?

Yeah! You already met Tippy; this is Flanderization, Mr. Nibbles, Hot Pocket, Sticky Joe, Bernadette, Peaches, Superstar...

[ might want to cut her off, the introductions could take a while! ]

[Jason giggles]

Okay, I get it. And well, they can come along too while we run along!

[Doreen will be with him at least and he's completely responsible. And so far these squirrels seem nice?]

... Yeah! Yeah, okay! C'mon, guys!

[ About half of them pile onto her shoulders (though Tippy still has the prime spot), and into her coat pockets and tail. The rest swarm around her feet. ]

Let's go!

Yeah! How about we do three laps around the block and see who finishes first?

[ JASON IS PROBABLY GONNA WIN THIS RACE! He trains for stuff like this, Doreen mostly just jumps onto her roof back home! ]

That works! Let's go, on five... four... three... two... one!

[ AND SHE'S OFF, leaping up to the top of the fire escape and onto the roof! ]

[And there he goes! He's entirely dependent on his grappling gun and his acrobatic skills to navigate. He's laughing as he races Doreen. This is for fun than anything life-threatening and Jason wants to see how Doreen and her friends handle themselves.]

[ Doreen isn't as fast as Jason, and her first couple of leaps between buildings are a little nervous and hesitant, but if there's one thing she's good at, it's jumping hecka far! The squirrels that aren't on her shoulders or in her jacket stick to nearby powerlines, skittering alongside her.

She's laughing too, this is fun! She rarely gets to cut loose like this, especially not with human friends! ]

[Jason laughs as he sees the squirrels following Doreen. It's distracting enough for the gap between him and Doreen to close in but he doesn't seem to care. He's just happy to play with another kid as Robin]

How're you doing that with all those squirrels?! This is so cool!

Tippy asked 'em to follow us!

[ They are her adult supervision for the night! Two dozen squirrels are probably roughly equivalent to one full-grown human. ]

And just like that they do?

[Jason flips over a roof vent]

You must be really good friends with Tippy!

We met kinda recently, but she said she's friends with my best friend back home, and squirrels don't lie about stuff like that!

[ Tippy is... technically lying, because that particular best friend squirrel died several years ago, but she needed a quick way to get Doreen to trust her, under these very weird circumstances!

Doreen does not try to do a cool flip, but she does take a flying leap onto the next building, and almost trips over that roof vent. ]

They're all really nice, you'd like 'em!

Not a bad landing there! And how do you understand them?

[ Jason gets a thumbs up, as Doreen stumbles to her feet and recovers! ]

I dunno, I just do. It sounds like English in my head.

Maybe it's magic or you're somehow part squirrel?

[Jason swings to the next rooftop and rolls as he lands before jumping back on his feet]
