a. NOTHING LEFT TO LEAN ON ⪢ (arrival, come heal her?)
( claudia usually whines at pete when she's got to get up to the higher shelves in the warehouse. but with myka gone, the whole vibe is off and he's been snippy and she can't exactly blame him for it, so: time for her big girl pants. it's just inventory, she just has to get up there and check on judy blume's typewriter, tick a box, and climb back down. it takes ninety seconds, and she's good.
she's halfway down when her foot slips. she's been through enough now that she actually accepts she's about to break her leg. except.
except she's in the air, purple-covered hands windmilling wildly. when she's grabbed by something she fights, and fights, and she nearly gets to the ground in one piece, but her panic just never lets up. finally she manages to squirm just right and—
—plap—
—lands with a roll, but not before her wrist takes more of the impact than it can handle and breaks underneath her. her rescuer, already exhausted and content with getting claudia to the ground alive, just moves onto the next, leaving her lying on her back cradling her forearm to her chest with a pathetic groan. )
No, dude, that's fine...I'll just lie here and... ( groannn oww ) ...die.
b. we told you what to dream ⪢ (arrival, post-fixed bones & intake)
Wait, seriously? Not a single Blackberry?
( it's official. this is the darkest time line. claudia, transported to another world and suffering an injury, decides that this is what she's going to focus on as the biggest disaster she's ever encountered. look at her sad morose puppy face. her world is ending.
no, seriously, she's going to glom onto whoever is nearest via attempted commiseration: )
Hey, can you believe this? They stopped making the best mobile phone here...
c. suddenly till my back's out of line ⪢ (diadem, power glitch—feel free to call an audible and move the location, i'll explain it with her glitchy teleporting 🤘)
( eagle-eyed guests or visitors to the hotel might notice the girl who looks like she's planning on seeing paramore in 2009 disappearing and appearing willy nilly. helter skelter, even. there's an obvious process: she enters the lobby of the hotel, and disappears.
the next try, she makes it to the lounge area. then. blip, gone.
once she nearly reaches the elevators, but—whoops, nope, she's gone again.
ad nauseum, this one. sometimes she counts her steps. sometimes she runs as fast as she can. always she disappears before she can get anywhere near her room.
eventually she falls asleep on one of the lounge sofas. maybe she'll get a nap before whatever's messing with her ejects her from her temporary housing?
