[Some are bound to notice something off about Sephiroth. It's unusual for him to miss meetings or show up late for work--but not so unusual that it's never happened before. This world has its stressors, and maybe he's just going through something again.

During the same time period, Fantastic has been making news thwarting a small rogue's gallery of fresh new villains. But apart from "Shadow Flare" being pretty tall, it isn't the natural conclusion to think that Sephiroth might be behind the mask. One, he's always professed a confusion and even disdain for costumes and alter egos. Two, all of the fights are happening in or around Central, and Sephiroth only travels there when borrowing Loki's teleporter. Absolutely no reason to connect the two.]

[ loki tucks his head against sephiroth's shoulder quietly. ]

I was really happy I could help you.

[Sephiroth is quiet for a moment. His first instinct is to reassure Loki that he doesn't need to be useful to him, but... that's not what this is.]

...I'm grateful that it means so much to you.

It did. I failed them all, but I didn't fail you.

[ it's gratifying to hear, even now. and maybe someday, sephiroth will come to depend on him. loki isn't there yet. he's not dependable enough.

but despite it all, if he could do this, maybe he always could. he closes his eyes again but his fingers latch onto sephiroth's clothes tightly. maybe. maybe someday. ]

[Sephiroth would argue that, if Loki said it aloud. Sephiroth never had any doubt that Loki would help him, if he asked. It isn't Loki's fault that Sephiroth struggles to rely on anyone.

But for now he just holds Loki. The cat pads around a bit more before settling down near Loki's head.]
