[Closed] Water, Water, Everywhere

Who: Donnie [personal profile] purplexing and Leo [personal profile] faceguy
What: Two idiots skulking around the sewers during the torrential downpour
When: Eeearly May?
Where: Somewhere under Central City
Content Warnings: N/A

Donnie might be forced to admit that this is not one of his better ideas.

Rain's usually never a problem, but while even New York saw its share of storms, they'd never been anything compared to this.

The waterways below the city streets flowed like rivers, the sound of it trickling and at times pouring through grates. It masked anything else, which Donnie had figured to be both a boon and a liability. But so far he hadn't come across anyone else down in the sewers, and he doubted most would be inclined to roam them during a storm.

Things have more or less been within reasonable expectations, and for someone who had lived in the sewers all his life, he hasn't worried too much about a little extra rain.

There's this niggling feeling that maybe he should check in with Leo, or head back up, but Donnie's always been stubborn about things and when it comes to focus on a task at hand, then there's not much he allows to get in the way of its completion. Recent talks have only spurred him to spend longer scoping out possible spaces to set up a new lair and he doesn't want to put it off just because of a storm.

Ah, Leo didn’t mean to cause that, though he should have expected it.

“Maybe we can bug Huvrye for a ride,” he says to break that line of thought. “He’s tall and strong and has wings, might as well use them for something.”

Though that would involve admitting how the ended up here in the first place.

That's probably true... Leo doesn't spend a lot of time flying like Donnie does, but just from jumping across rooftops he knows that water drops hitting your face at high speeds is often unpleasant.

Donnie gets up and Leo follows him. It's a little easier when he doesn't have any extra weight. He's not even wearing clothing beyond his normal gear, so he doesn't have any fabric weighed down with water.

"Yeah, got it."

He slides behind Donnie, hits the release, and...

"Pizza Supreme this thing is heavy!"

No wonder he just collapsed once they got out here.

"Probably the adrenaline."

That's the only way Leo can guess he got out of there with this pound of bricks on his back. He doesn't want to think about if Donnie had just sunk, he never would have found him. And Leo himself likely would have gone over the drop...

So yeah, let's not think about it.

"Yep." Leo moves his hands so he's bracing the shell better. "And... flip!"
faceguy: (can't let this go)

Dang, that is a lot of water. "Is this thing hollow? Jeez..."

Leo will hold onto it until it's totally empty, giving it a shake when it seems to be done just to be sure. A few more drops of water fall out with accompanying splats.

"Maybe you shouldn't put it back on yet." His shoulders have to be killing him with how heavy this was.

That explanation makes sense and is also startlingly concise for a Donnie tech explanation, which is how Leo knows he’s exhausted. If there was any doubt to begin with.

Leo pulls the battle shell more his way. “I got it.”
faceguy: (will only surrender)

"Yeah, I got it. Give your arms a break."

Leo can at least carry it to the subway. If Donnie wants to put it back on then, he can hand it back over.
faceguy: (right hand to god)

Leo shifts the battle shell so it's hooked on his arm over one shoulder, then nods.

"Let's go."

He'll let Donnie lead since he has the map. Off they go!
