I want to be blinded from this dull today
Who: Leonardo
faceguy, Donatello
purplexing, Accelerator
levelshift
What: Three children commit light B&E and felony theft.
When: Late May. Probably after that Fantastic announcement, what timing.
Where: An electronics recycling facility in Central.
Content Warnings: Kids committing crimes, body horror, psychological horror, blood, sensory overloading. These kids have trauma, thanks nightmare floor! Will update as necessary.
[With everything going on in Central City - the flooding, the lockdown, Fantastic taking over the Alliance - the smart thing to do would be to delay this whole mission. Or even better - call it off, because even though it should be a (mostly) harmless crime for the benefit of Donnie, stealing equipment meant to be recycled is still illegal. But no, they've made plans, scoped the place out, trained. Dropping things now would be putting all that time and effort to waste, and besides, it should be a simple stealthy in-and-out mission, right? It's a recycling facility, how bad can the security be?
Besides, it'll be fun to stick it to Fantastic. A heist (albeit, a small one) happening right after he becomes head of the Alliance? Now that's fantastic.
Accelerator isn't too sure what to expect. He's been in a recycling facility before, back in Academy City, and the security was incredibly lax. This is a different city - different universe, with different rules. He's a little cautious, since this was originally his idea, and he's the one with only thirty minutes of power to work with. Otherwise he's a weaker-than-normal high school student relying on two very capable ninjas.
It's fucking weird to be relying on other people. He kind of hates it, and he isn't totally sure why, though he can't exactly overthink it right now like he usually would. He's trying to stay focused on breaking into the facility and not fucking anything up for Donnie and Leo. He's even made something of an effort for tonight, with a duffle bag to store equipment (a smaller backpack is inside for stuff he'll grab for the Society's cut) and a black hoodie in case he needs to hide his hair (he isn't sure, white hair just doesn't seem very stealthy).
So far it's going smoothly. With Leo's planning and leadership and Donnie taking care of the security system they're able to sneak in and avoid the paths of the security guards. In fact, it's going so well that it sort of seems like they might be able to get in, grab what they need, and get out with no incidents whatsoever.
Of course, it's absurd to throw all caution out the window simply because things are working out right now. Especially when they run into their first obstacle.
After dodging a few more guards, the trio will come to a long hallway, the only path to their goal without having to pass directly several security stations. Spread through the length of the hall are little red lasers, arranged into one very elaborate grid meant to ward off would-be thieves such as themselves. It's like something out of a spy movie, and it's unclear whether these are the kinds of lasers that will cut a limb off or simply sound an alarm if tripped. Maybe it's both.
Accelerator leans heavily on his crutch, looking thoroughly irritated with this obstacle. His reflection might be actively detrimental here.]
This is fucking ridiculous.

Leo shifts so he’s sitting up fully. Donnie is asleep, it sounds like, which is a good thing, so he lowers his voice so he doesn’t disturb him.]
Uh, so, funny story. You know how Donnie needs parts for his projects? Well, turns out buying them is really expensive and junkyards are kinda hit and miss soooo we decided to take some stuff he needs from a recycling plant… in a manner that may not have been on the side of the law the Alliance would prefer.
[Nailed it.]
no subject
Did you get hurt? Did you get caught?
[Priorities.]

Leo is glad that didn’t seem to go terribly, and he relaxes a little against the pillows.]
Please, Huvrye, we’re ninjas. Obviously we didn’t get caught.
[What does he take them for? That said…]
And uh… well, Dee banged up his shoulder and Accy here hit a wall pretty hard… and so did I but I think everyone is… mostly alright!
no subject
[The other eyebrow joins the first as Leo lists off injuries.]
Do any of you need a cover story for medical attention, or are you planning on sleeping it off?
[THey'd know the extent of their injuries better than him (and he's not going to pretend to be a medic); that said, he also knows that as the Local Adult, his word will go over better with other adults. It's an out if they need it.]
no subject
I'm fine.
[He is not looking forward to the morning but no one needs to know that.]
no subject
Oh, pretty sure we can just sleep it off. [Leo waves a hand.] Besides… I’m not sure where it’d be safe to take Donnie, anyway.
[He’s not as concerned by that as he should be, only because that’s their normal. The day he arrived here was the first time he ever saw a doctor, himself.]
no subject
[He nods at Accelerator. He's still not terribly fond of the kid - that first impression hadn't been the best, to put it lightly - but if he's fallen in with Leo and Donnie to the point of doing a heist with them, then he's also Huvrye's responsibility, to some extent. Huvrye's not going to let the kid die on his watch, at least.]
[Huvrye's expression twists a bit at Leo's point. He hadn't thought of that, and Leo might not be worried, but he is. Something else to consider.]
There's a clinic in town that treats unaligned metas. If all else fails, we can find a Society medic. It's not safe to rely on the Alliance anymore.
no subject
The fuck?
[Why's the Society being mentioned? He's immediately narrowing his eyes.]
no subject
You mean, ‘cause of Fantastic?
[It’s bad for sure. Leo doesn’t know what to do about it yet, though.]
no subject
Yeah. I've seen what happens when people like him are in charge, and I'm not about to take orders from him.
[There's a beat as he considers his words. He'd meant to tell them sooner, but there hadn't been a good time or a good way - not that here and now is the best time either, but the current conversation is enough of an opening to work.]
I left the Alliance yesterday, after the announcement. Signed up with the Society.
no subject
He probably would if he wasn't so tired.]
Wowwww. Well, welcome to being a fucking piece of shit villain with the rest of us, I guess.
no subject
He can guess why Huvrye made this decision, given what he knows of his past, and his nightmares. Fantastic seems like a bad dude, and the changes coming with him even worse.]
If you think that’s a good idea then I’m good with it. [He sighs.] I guess it makes admitting that we just committed a felony less awkward.
no subject
[But he's not about to say that, so he fixes Accelerator with a blank stare instead.]
What did I ever do to you?
[It's flat, purposeful but not challenging, and he's going to let that sit for a bit before turning his attention back to Leo. He sighs.]
There aren't any good choices right now. This is just the better one.
no subject
no subject
Leo will roll his eyes at Accelerator’s reaction but otherwise ignore it. Why is he surrounded by people who can’t have a normal conversation?
(Then again, they just went through something traumatic so that could have something to do with it too.)]
Ignore Accy, he’s had a bad night.
[And he’ll leave it at that.]
Guess splitting from the guilds entirely when they know who and where we are would be too hard…
[Leo should consider switching, he knows, but even with Huvrye going first and everything he said to Accelerator about not caring about people who join the Society and with Donnie thinking about putting it down on his school paperwork, something in his stomach still turns at the idea of joining something with “villain” in the name. Something that sounds a lot like Raph.
He’s way too tired right now to be making that kind of decision anyway, and he doesn’t want to wake up Donnie to ask his opinion, so he pivots.]
So are they cool with a Society member and an Alliance member living together?
no subject
[He raises an eyebrow at Leo's comment but takes his advice; Accelerator can be part of this conversation when he has something helpful to say.]
[He shrugs at the question.]
It's Guild housing, not Alliance housing, so it shouldn't matter. If they have a problem with it, they can go through me.
[There's an implicit threat in that, though he's pretty sure nobody here has seen him in action enough to know the extent of it.]
no subject
He remains silent. Guild housing isn't something he knows much about aside from the Society being willing to give it to teenagers like himself.]
no subject
Well, then nothing to worry about there.
[He has enough things to worry about without adding moving to the list.]
Then I guess everything’s fine! We’ll tell Donnie when he’s more aware of his surroundings.
[He doesn’t want to wake him up if he’s actually managing to sleep after all that.]
no subject
[He shrugs.]
So tomorrow morning.
[He glances at Accelerator.]
Are you staying the night?
[No judgment despite Accelerator's recent comments; just a question. It's the middle of the night and Accelerator is Leo and Donnie's friend; Huvrye isn't about to kick him out if he'd planned to staying here overnight.]
no subject
A few hours.
[He supposes the normal answer would be yes, but he's working on a time limit.
(And he's hoping it'll be less awkward for him to be getting up super early to get home. This already feels incredibly weird just sticking around, like he's a normal goddamn person.)]
no subject
Maybe he can at least get a little sleep.
Leo still really wants a hug, but he also doesn’t want to ask for it in front of Accelerator. So he just curls into himself and doesn’t say anything about it.]
We’re just going to sleep out here tonight, if that’s cool.
[He feels like he won’t actually sleep. But he’ll try.]
no subject
You're welcome to stay the whole night if you want.
[No expectation - just an open door. (Accelerator is likely to bite his head off over it, but oh well.)]
[He's been living with Leo for too long to miss the shift in his body language, but he doesn't address it - not directly.]
That's fine. I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight - I'll be in my room if you need anything.
[It's another open door, for whatever is bothering Leo. Between "rough night" and the injuries, there's something else going on.]
no subject
But it is, so he isn't. He gives a firm shake of his head.]
No. I've got shit to do later.
[That's all he's saying on the matter.]
no subject
Okay. Thanks, Huvrye.
[He recognizes the invitation for what it is. As soon as Accelerator is out he’ll be following Huvrye to his room.]
