I want to be blinded from this dull today
Who: Leonardo
faceguy, Donatello
purplexing, Accelerator
levelshift
What: Three children commit light B&E and felony theft.
When: Late May. Probably after that Fantastic announcement, what timing.
Where: An electronics recycling facility in Central.
Content Warnings: Kids committing crimes, body horror, psychological horror, blood, sensory overloading. These kids have trauma, thanks nightmare floor! Will update as necessary.
[With everything going on in Central City - the flooding, the lockdown, Fantastic taking over the Alliance - the smart thing to do would be to delay this whole mission. Or even better - call it off, because even though it should be a (mostly) harmless crime for the benefit of Donnie, stealing equipment meant to be recycled is still illegal. But no, they've made plans, scoped the place out, trained. Dropping things now would be putting all that time and effort to waste, and besides, it should be a simple stealthy in-and-out mission, right? It's a recycling facility, how bad can the security be?
Besides, it'll be fun to stick it to Fantastic. A heist (albeit, a small one) happening right after he becomes head of the Alliance? Now that's fantastic.
Accelerator isn't too sure what to expect. He's been in a recycling facility before, back in Academy City, and the security was incredibly lax. This is a different city - different universe, with different rules. He's a little cautious, since this was originally his idea, and he's the one with only thirty minutes of power to work with. Otherwise he's a weaker-than-normal high school student relying on two very capable ninjas.
It's fucking weird to be relying on other people. He kind of hates it, and he isn't totally sure why, though he can't exactly overthink it right now like he usually would. He's trying to stay focused on breaking into the facility and not fucking anything up for Donnie and Leo. He's even made something of an effort for tonight, with a duffle bag to store equipment (a smaller backpack is inside for stuff he'll grab for the Society's cut) and a black hoodie in case he needs to hide his hair (he isn't sure, white hair just doesn't seem very stealthy).
So far it's going smoothly. With Leo's planning and leadership and Donnie taking care of the security system they're able to sneak in and avoid the paths of the security guards. In fact, it's going so well that it sort of seems like they might be able to get in, grab what they need, and get out with no incidents whatsoever.
Of course, it's absurd to throw all caution out the window simply because things are working out right now. Especially when they run into their first obstacle.
After dodging a few more guards, the trio will come to a long hallway, the only path to their goal without having to pass directly several security stations. Spread through the length of the hall are little red lasers, arranged into one very elaborate grid meant to ward off would-be thieves such as themselves. It's like something out of a spy movie, and it's unclear whether these are the kinds of lasers that will cut a limb off or simply sound an alarm if tripped. Maybe it's both.
Accelerator leans heavily on his crutch, looking thoroughly irritated with this obstacle. His reflection might be actively detrimental here.]
This is fucking ridiculous.

This is fucking ridiculous.

After all, Accelerator just turned off his esper mode. Which means he can be touched.
And Leo can't resist.
He steps across the distance between them quick as a flash.]
You can't get rid of us that easy, Accy!
[And so saying he's getting Accelerator in a headlock. Noogie incoming!
(So much for not saying it like that.)]
1/2
And honestly, he's too mired in expecting the worst and the knot in his stomach that even when Leo is yanking him into a headlock it's taking him a second for his brain to catch up.]
Wh ---
??????
?????????????????????????
no subject
What the fuck??
[Hell yeah nailed it.]
no subject
Mostly he's amused because he and Leo had called it on Accelerator's response.]
In case Leon wasn't clear, you're stuck with us.
no subject
We talked it over and we were actually on the same page the whole time! That doesn’t happen very often.
[Leo lets Accelerator go, though he still stays close, swiveling so he can look him right in the face.]
Thanks for telling us the truth. But we’re not going to drop you just like that.
no subject
They can't be serious. They can't be. They have to be joking, or... or there are conditions, or there's something he's missing here. That knot in his stomach isn't going away, it feels like it's getting bigger.]
Wh... why? What the hell is wrong with you two? I wasn't lying or exaggerating about any of that.
no subject
[He sighs dramatically.]
What kind of friend-adjacent-acquaintances would we be if we decided not to associate with you any more just because of that?
no subject
We like you, cranky pants. And we’ve been through a lot together, soooo… we want to stay whatever it is Donnie just said. Friend-acquaintances.
[No conditions, no jokes. Just this.]
This is just what friend… acquaintanceship looks like!
no subject
Accelerator keeps on staring at them like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop, because a large portion of his brain refuses to believe it. But no, there's nothing, just the two of them reiterating their stance. They still want to be friend-adjacent acquaintances.
(Let's be real, they still want to be friends.)]
....
[He reaches up and pinches the bridge of his nose, grimacing. Today has been a roller coaster of emotions for him. It sucks, it's been really, really tough and he hates it. He doesn't deserve a good end to the day, but unless he walks away (and he isn't going to do that), then that's what he's getting.
He sighs hard.]
You two are idiots.
[Holy shit, he actually has people his age who want to be around him and don't have it out for him. He doesn't know what to do with this. It's kind of overwhelming.]
no subject
Accelerator must be more so, given what his expectations seem to have been, and he's been beating himself up about this from the start. But he's finally admitted defeat, and even with his proclamation on them, Donnie can't help but laugh.
It's a step back towards what's been normal for this weird trio, and he'll take it.
no subject
Everything may not be magically fixed, but Leo hopes Accelerator sees he has people now. People who aren’t going to just abandon him, people who are definitely not interested in fighting him to be seen as the strongest, or whatever weirdness was happening back in his world.
Is it the most normal friendship? Well, Leo’s baseline has never been the same as everyone else’s.]
“Idiots” with no profanity feels like an upgrade. [Leo reaches over and knocks some of the hair he just mussed up back into place.]
no subject
For now, Accelerator tolerates the hair fussing. It isn't embarrassing like getting put in a headlock, it's kind of... normal? And after everything he just doesn't feel like swatting at Leo again.]
Tche. [They do get that, though.] That doesn't mean I'm about to start using nicknames on you two, so don't make any stupid assumptions.
no subject
[It's always hard to tell if he's joking or not with that tone.]
You'll regret it when you have to get our attention in a pinch, they're a mouthful as it is.
no subject
[If Mikey were here that would be even worse.]
Seriously, the only time I get called “Leonardo” is when I’m about to get grounded.
[They’ll get him to come around eventually! These are logical arguments!]
no subject
I think I'll manage.
no subject
[Not trying to make Accelerator feel awkward about his decisions at all!]
Anyway, should we walk you back or something?
no subject
At Donnie’s question, Leo just looks to Accelerator for an answer. He has no idea how to end an interaction where one person reveals they’re a mass murderer and the other two decide to stay friends anyway, but this seems as good a way as any.]
no subject
[Honestly, that just makes him want to double down.]
Tche. [He has no idea what to do here either, so he's defaulting to his usual prickliness.] Since you came all the way out here you might as well walk back with me.
[It's not a 'fuck off' though, so it's progress!]
no subject
[In that brief span of time, Donnie had pulled out his phone to check the time. Among other things.
Oh! But more importantly, Accelerator's not flat-out telling them to leave him alone. Progress indeed!
Donnie grins at Leo before he gestures at the esper in a sweeping manner. After you!]
no subject
But the fact that Accelerator is receptive to this offer is definitely a big win. Leo claps a hand on Accelerator’s back to nudge him in the direction of Donnie’s gesture (without any real force).]
You know, I always knew you would warm up to us eventually.
no subject
The clap to his back almost makes him stumble and he just scowls. Idiots, complete idiots. He can't believe any of this.]
Let's stick to 'tolerate.'
[Whatever, he'll start to head out of the side street, letting the two of them follow.]
no subject
[Face it, they're never going to let him have the last word on that. Trying to do so will just make the walk back seem even longer.]
no subject
[Just let them have it, Accy, it’ll be easier.]
no subject
They win this round.]
