[OPEN] Maybe not a literal monster mash
Who: Jason Todd
robintohood and you. Also a mingle!
What: Various antics at Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge during October
When: Throughout October
Where: Central City
Content Warnings: N/A for now. Will edit if needed.
[There may be some changes to the timeline now but Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is still open for business. There are always people looking to have a good time drinking and blowing off some steam with a good song. It doesn’t matter if they’re ordinary civilians or some of Central City’s more... colorful characters. Just be nice to the bouncers and check your weapons by the entrance first.
To reflect the fall season, Descendant has included seasonal drinks like pumpkin beer, apple cocktails, and spiced maple bourbon.
Meanwhile, some of this month's most popular songs seem to be reflecting Halloween, such as Highway to Hell and Monsters. Or maybe you want to do a more classy number like Witchcraft? Descendant looks like a speakeasy after all. And in a total coincidence, Time Warp has also shown up on the popularity chart.
If you drop by at Descendant on a Coyote Ugly Night, you’ll find the atmosphere considerably wilder and wetter. You might’ve even already seen some of the social media posts and videos of the employees performing. They certainly look like they’re having a good time.
Perhaps you’re coming in during a more normal time. Come by for a drink. Maybe rent a private karaoke room or karaoke on stage in front of others if you’re feeling brave. There are some bar games around too.
You can always just people watch as well. Those who are especially observant might notice that some of Descendant’s customers are a bit... furtive as they keep their heads low or quickly scurry to one of the private rooms.
There’s always the reading room too for those who want a more quiet ambiance.
And then there's the very select few who are allowed upstairs in the attic apartment.
Whatever the case may be, Jason will be around. As Descendant’s owner, he’s a busy guy with plenty he has to do]
((OOC: Jason will be around but feel free to mingle! My contact information is on this journal's profile and I'm in the game's Discord server. Also feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns as well. I also have a feedback post.))

Barbara Gordon | open
Of course, if someone is new they get a quick smile.]
Other than them, [she nods toward whoever is dancing] what can I get you?
coyote ugly
[ His smile is not completely smarmy. ]

[She might be more willing to help out with one over the other. Then again, who knows?]

He notices Barbara immediately-- how could he not?-- but he still seems surprised for a moment, like he forgot that it's her and not someone who just looks like Barbara but ten-ish years older. His expression changes, almost immediately, to a genuine smile. ]
Did it get too rowdy for you out there?
no subject
It wouldn't surprise her that he finds it strange to see an older version of someone he knows. After all, she finds it weird to find herself surround by multiples of the guys she left at home. It's mostly the younger version of Dick that keeps throwing her. She already had no trouble remembering what he looked like. Nice to know that memory isn't messed up.]
Please. It's quieter out there than most nights in Gotham.

[ He walks over to her and holds out his bag of books. ]
Since you're a VIP, you get first dibs on new books. [ That's not actually a policy, but if anyone is getting special treatment, it's Barbara.
The bag itself is full of secondhand books of all kinds. The most interesting are a book of poems in Gaelic, a fully-illustrated copy of The Little Prince in French, an unofficial biography of Atomight, and a Russian translation of The Merry Adventures of Robin Hood. ]

[The biography of Atomight catches her attention specifically as it's something she's never seen before. Can't blame a girl for wanting to catch up on any information, official or unofficial, that she can get her hands on.
She gives him a smile and flips through the book.]
Interesting mix of titles.
no subject
[ He watches her go through the stack of books and isn't surprised when she picks up the Atomight one. ]
I pick up whatever might be interesting. All kinds of people come here, so having a wide selection is only natural.
Reading Room
Hey, Babs. Like what we got so far?
no subject
Very Jason Todd to have a library in his bar. Love it.
no subject
I'd hate to hear otherwise so thanks. We have to stick out somehow in a city full of dives. It feels almost like home.
no subject
[She currently has a copy of The Bartender's Bible on the table in front of her.
But there are a couple of other books there as well.]

Me? Being a sneaky shit? I thought you liked me, Babs.
no subject
[He's getting punched in the shoulder for that one.]

Were you looking for anything in particular?
no subject
Just looking to see if there was anything I recognized but hadn't read yet.
[In some universe, Selina is laughing and has no idea why.]

[Sometimes book club nights are really just book club, after all.]
Or would you prefer something more in the lines of a mystery?
no subject
[Also sounds very much like something Jason would go for. Drama, violence, historical...]

The reading room is run like the Little Free Library. Feel free to add or subtract from the collection. We don't keep anything truly valuable around for just anyone to enjoy, although there are some special editions for the true bibliophile.

[Is the cat actually talking or is there another ventriloquist on the loose?]

Excuse me, do you happen to see anything from Christie on that side? Could have sworn this was the right spot....
no subject
Looking for one in particular or general? There's a copy of Murder on the Orient Express on the bottom shelf over here.
no subject
[Choices, choices. She joins Barbara at the shelf, scanning the row before pulling the book.]
Mysteries aren't my strong genre, but they're growing on me.
no subject
[Barbara loves a good story, but mysteries are always going to hit a certain spot with her.]
You might want to see if you can find a copy of Endless Night if you want something that's more than just a mystery. It's still a crime novel but includes romance and gothic horror.

[Granted, every season is spooky season in Sunset Falls. But it goes all out for October. Much to Mayuko's dismay.
Still, no sense in worrying a stranger.]
Might go good with Rebecca. That was my choice to kick off the month.
