[There may be some changes to the timeline now but Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is still open for business. There are always people looking to have a good time drinking and blowing off some steam with a good song. It doesn’t matter if they’re ordinary civilians or some of Central City’s more... colorful characters. Just be nice to the bouncers and check your weapons by the entrance first.

To reflect the fall season, Descendant has included seasonal drinks like pumpkin beer, apple cocktails, and spiced maple bourbon.

Meanwhile, some of this month's most popular songs seem to be reflecting Halloween, such as Highway to Hell and Monsters. Or maybe you want to do a more classy number like Witchcraft? Descendant looks like a speakeasy after all. And in a total coincidence, Time Warp has also shown up on the popularity chart.

If you drop by at Descendant on a Coyote Ugly Night, you’ll find the atmosphere considerably wilder and wetter. You might’ve even already seen some of the social media posts and videos of the employees performing. They certainly look like they’re having a good time.

Perhaps you’re coming in during a more normal time. Come by for a drink. Maybe rent a private karaoke room or karaoke on stage in front of others if you’re feeling brave. There are some bar games around too.

You can always just people watch as well. Those who are especially observant might notice that some of Descendant’s customers are a bit... furtive as they keep their heads low or quickly scurry to one of the private rooms.

There’s always the reading room too for those who want a more quiet ambiance.

And then there's the very select few who are allowed upstairs in the attic apartment.

Whatever the case may be, Jason will be around. As Descendant’s owner, he’s a busy guy with plenty he has to do]

I did catch it's not mandatory to join a guild anymore. Perhaps between this and that, they'll be feasible options for more of the Starfallen.

[That would be a mixed bag. Mayuko would not begrudge new Starfallen joining the Alliance. No, it'll be the ones who have been here, joining now that the tides have changed. Now that it's easy.

She closes the art book. No use getting salty over it now. Her membership in the Alliance is secondary to her commitments in Sunset Falls for a few months yet.]

Speaking of... how long has Mal been around?

It’s harder to mistreat a group when there’s a big spike in the population of them. Hopefully Frances has more resources in helping unaffiliated metahumans too now.

Mal’s came to us several months ago. Why?

I don't know, Jason, maybe because I had no clue I'd see your doppelganger behind the bar when I came in tonight!

[At that Jason betrays a small smirk. Despite how contentious his relationship with his doppelgänger is, Mayuko’s reactions continue to amuse him]

Yeah, he’s real help like that when he wants to be. A pain in the ass the rest of the time though.

[Mayuko frowns. It's odd to acknowledge that the multiverse could cough up alternates in Confluences. (Loki is a special case all his own.) But it's not the most peculiar thing she's witnessed in her long years. She's more worried for her friend.]

He's not better than you.

[Said as simply as explaining the sun rises in the east and the sea is salty. Immutable fact.]

You've had time to establish yourself here, and you haven't wasted it.

[Jason is surprised to find himself feeling touched by Mayuko’s words. She’s an outsider who didn’t know him or his family before last year. She doesn’t know the whole ugly drama that the Waynes have gone through.

And yet, there seems to be sincerity to what she’s saying and not just fluff to flatter him. She really has been slowly but surely becoming a good friend for Jason despite all the subterfuge he’s still doing]

Thanks. I know he’s not better than me.

[It’s not entirely true. Jason has repeatedly wound up feeling jealous of his double]

It’s just weird actually witnessing an alternative universe me.

There, there. If he gets too doppelgänger-ish, we can always punt him into the Underworld for a spell. Cerberus could do with some... enrichment.

[It's at least less extreme than waiting for White Hearts to roll around again. While she hasn't learned the exact relation between the Gothamites, she figures a step like that would lead to bad feelings.]
