[There may be some changes to the timeline now but Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is still open for business. There are always people looking to have a good time drinking and blowing off some steam with a good song. It doesn’t matter if they’re ordinary civilians or some of Central City’s more... colorful characters. Just be nice to the bouncers and check your weapons by the entrance first.

To reflect the fall season, Descendant has included seasonal drinks like pumpkin beer, apple cocktails, and spiced maple bourbon.

Meanwhile, some of this month's most popular songs seem to be reflecting Halloween, such as Highway to Hell and Monsters. Or maybe you want to do a more classy number like Witchcraft? Descendant looks like a speakeasy after all. And in a total coincidence, Time Warp has also shown up on the popularity chart.

If you drop by at Descendant on a Coyote Ugly Night, you’ll find the atmosphere considerably wilder and wetter. You might’ve even already seen some of the social media posts and videos of the employees performing. They certainly look like they’re having a good time.

Perhaps you’re coming in during a more normal time. Come by for a drink. Maybe rent a private karaoke room or karaoke on stage in front of others if you’re feeling brave. There are some bar games around too.

You can always just people watch as well. Those who are especially observant might notice that some of Descendant’s customers are a bit... furtive as they keep their heads low or quickly scurry to one of the private rooms.

There’s always the reading room too for those who want a more quiet ambiance.

And then there's the very select few who are allowed upstairs in the attic apartment.

Whatever the case may be, Jason will be around. As Descendant’s owner, he’s a busy guy with plenty he has to do]

Well…

[Before Jason can say more, there’s a commotion at one of the tables. Chairs loudly scrap across the floor and two burly men get up and angrily argue. One man accuses the other of ripping him off earlier in the day.

Jason looks back at the table and then back at Doreen]

How about a trial run?

[ Doreen gives him a silent nod, and walks up to the burly dudes with a bright grin. She's going for the de-escalation approach first, and as she steps between them Jason will be able to hear snippets of conversation like "Hey guys, what seems to be the problem?", "I'm sorry to hear that, Darrell!" and "Listen, I'm sure his mother is a very nice woman, but..." before one of the men snaps, and swings a beer bottle at the other's head. It shatters on Doreen's forearm, and within a second she has the guy by the scruff of the neck, and is hauling him towards the exit without much effort. He gets tossed out the door, Fresh Prince style, followed by a shower of business cards advertising anger management therapy, and a few hastily scribbled post-it notes ("Sorry, you can come back tomorrow but you're cut off for tonight! Also, here's the contact info for some lawyers that might be able to help you in small claims court, FYI, don't hit them with beer bottles, not a good look"). ]

Can we call that guy an uber or something?

[While Doreen was taking care of the two drunks, Jason had his business phone out just in case. By the time she goes back to him, Jason had reserved a car under Descendant’s expense]

Thanks! We might need to get Eugene out of here too, he's pretty drunk, but preferably like... a good ten, fifteen minutes after Darrell's already left.

Got any bandaids, by the way?

[ She holds up the arm that took the hit from the beer bottle; some blood is soaking through her sleeve! ]

[Jason pretends to wince when he sees the injury. He’s seen much more gory things but he’s still maintaining a civilian cover]

Yeah, come on. There’s a first-aid kit in the break room. You can bring your drink along.

[Jason calls over one of the bouncers and tells him to keep an eye on the remaining drunk customer and to call car service. He then leads Doreen out of the main area and down a hallway where the private karaoke rooms are]

[ She follows him down the hall, surreptitiously peeking into the karaoke rooms. ]

It's not bad! Doesn't even really hurt, it's just messy lookin', you know?

That’s good. Still, better to be sure.

[Soon, they reach the employee break room and Jason fetches the first-aid kit in one of the cabinets]

You fight often or something?

That wasn't fighting, that was stopping a fight before it could start. And... crossfit gets pretty intense sometimes, y'know?

[ She shrugs off her jacket. Luckily she was just wearing a tshirt under there, so she doesn't have to roll up her sleeve. The damage isn't bad, though, mostly just a bunch of smaller cuts. ]

[Jason starts to treat her with kit. With all the injuries he’s had since he was a kid and observing Alfred and Bruce, he’s gotten pretty comfortable with how to take care of cuts like the one Doreen got]

No kidding. The post-its were a nice touch too.

Thanks! If he hadn't escalated things with the beer bottle I might've been able to talk him down, but getting him out of there seemed more important.

... Man, you're really good at this. Do you get in a lot of fights?

[ That would be weird, he's so mild-mannered! ]

I’ve gotten into some and I’m not afraid to be another bouncer for this place. But even without all that, it’s just useful to know this stuff.

[It’s said so casually and easily. It’s the type of lie that’s been well-practiced since he was a kid. The best lies are the ones that have bits of truth mixed in them]
