Oh, had I a golden thread and a needle so fine
Who: Aurican
ofgoldenfoil and YOU
What: Aurican goes to his lessons and looks for a lair
When: The entire October
Where: Sunset Falls; Central City, OTA
Content Warnings: None so far.
Sunset Falls
Aurican is a common sight in Sunset Falls. His golden scales flash in the cool October sun as he fly over the city. Sometimes he’s a driving hazard at sunset when the light hits just right to blind an unfortunate driver, but for the most part he’s left to his devices. But in moments of education, he appear as a young blond boy. Aurican spent the majority of the day in the city library in his private reading and writing lessons, but also obsessively reading any book he can reach when the lessons concluded. And in some days, he is at a private placefor his magic lessons with Loki.
Central City
Aurican long lost his access to his Diadem Hotel room, but as a dragon he is more than capable in sleeping in city parks and tangled woods while hunting the occasional deer or pigeon. But even a dragon needs shelter; while Fantastic’s leadership in the Alliance was clearly less than desired, even Aurican can see the benefits of being in such a guild. With that in mind, he fully intends to join the Alliance and secure a home in Sunset Falls
Aurican is not above his draconic instincts, however, and it didn’t take long for him to consider to find a secondary home, a place more secretive for his desires and ancient instincts. Somewhere private, secure, so that even if his home in Sunset Falls is ever compromised he will have a place to retreat from. Aurican decided to find one in Central City, where the Alliance HQ is located.
However…Central City is a far cry from Sunset Falls. As a city infested with corruption and crime Aurican had difficulty finding a lair. A dragon flying about even at night will attract unwanted attention, but his only other form is one of a young boy…and even that attracted even more unwanted attention. Mostly well-meaning attention, but there’s the negative kind as well. This made Aurican even more determined to find a lair, to make all the annoyances and hard effort worth it.
Despite the challenges - or because of it - he found himself in the barren section of the city, after hours of walking as a boy. There’s a stink in the air due to the nearby sewer systems which does not bother Aurican. It makes it less likely for the abandoned properties to be sought after by the local populace. As he looks around at the abandoned shops and studios, he realized the smell was cloying than he thought. He wouldn’t be able to smell anyone approaching.
Like now. The senses of Aurican’s human form have the senses of, well, a boy, and Aurican hasn’t realized he is alone until he senses someone approaching too close to him. Stepping away from the boarded up window of an abandoned shop, Aurican spins around to size up whoever it is.

Sunset Falls Library
"...do you need any assistance?"

And in his child form, he most definitely can’t help it. Aurican points to a book. A little thick for someone his supposed age, but Aurican is nothing but ambitious. “That one. The one about volcanoes.”

Also, children are weird.
He plucks the book from the shelf and offers it to Aurican. "Are they an interest of yours?"

He touched the slender hardcover, with a bright photo of a lava spilling over to the edge of an ocean. “Do you have them in your world?”

Sephiroth shakes his head. "There are no volcanoes of note in my world, no. They've been dormant for a long time, I suppose. Tectonic activity more commonly results in the eruption of the Lifestream."

She arranges a ream of lined paper as she awaits his arrival. He was supposed to select some books for his reading practice, and she can't wait to see what he brings.

He sits down next to his tutor and lets Mayuko observe his strange collection of books. “I was not sure which books you thought to be too difficult for me on this lesson, so I thought some variety was in order.”

Mayuko flips through the encyclopedia. There's bound to be a section that discusses basic geologic and geophysical processes?
"We should practice with the farm book first. Have you started this one?"
The wear on the book could be a sign of age in general, or of Auri's interest.
