[ The townhouse is, honestly, much nicer than she'd anticipated. It's not nearly as ostensibly expensive as the Bruce in her world might pick out – he has the exaggerated persona of Bruce Wayne down to a science – but it's beautifully designed. Her floor is airy and bright, warm with cream and blush-colored furniture and filled with natural light from windows she keeps open, despite the briskness to the air. There's a pretty little tangle of garden outside, now red and yellow with autumn, but she suspects it will be green and alive come the spring.

She doesn't have much to move in, but she'd gone out to buy a few plants to add some life to the living space. Now, she floats near the ceiling, humming as she installs a hook from which to hang a pot filled with trailing ivy. On the clean kitchen counter is a large wooden bowl filled with (full-size) candy bars, with packages of more nearby, waiting for Halloween and the trick or treaters she anticipates.

Strange as this situation is, she's content with it. ]

daughter of the hunter's moon — central city

[ Time is reckoned differently on Themyscira than in Man's World. She'd been born beneath a hunter's moon, and here, that's the name of the full moon that appears at the end of October. It isn't yet full dark, but the moon is rising, and she's found a spot on one of the taller buildings where she can watch the sunset paint the city in red and gold.

She'd had to be careful, coming up here. Until she decides one way or the other about joining the Alliance, she can't be seen using her powers. It's frustrating in the extreme, but it's a good impetus to consider her options carefully. In the meantime, she can still enjoy the sight of sunset and moonrise, and, a little later on, she can still thwart a would-be mugging by surreptitiously flicking a length of lasso to catch around the thief's ankle and tugging him into an alleyway.

Nobody saw, probably. ]

what's this about a hellmouth? — sunset falls

[ Her business in Sunset Falls is complete once she's spoken with Eros and reiterated her promise to be his champion. He'd mentioned a Hellmouth and the mayor, Loki, and she has every intention of finding out more about both... after she finishes strolling around the suburb. There's nothing quite like autumn in New England, after all, and no doubt Sunset Falls has some enjoyable Halloween decorations up. ]

[The Sunset Falls suburbs are Sephiroth's home and usual stomping grounds. It's especially easy to find him in the vicinity of the library and its adjacent park, which has certainly grown quite pretty with the fall colors.

He visibly pauses at the sight of Diana. Theirs was... an unusual first meeting. How do you address someone who lasso'd you out of an alternate self who wanted to become a god?]

[ If you're Diana, you do so by ignoring any potential awkwardness and brightening visibly. Her smile shines out, clear and effortless. ]

Sephiroth.

[ She crosses the small park to come closer. There's nothing of the battle-hardened warrior about her today; she's in civilian clothing, the lasso that had helped guide him back looped around her waist like a belt. ]

I'm glad to see you.

[ Alive. In one piece. Not attempting godhood. ]

You made it through the unpleasantness unharmed, I hope?

[ Bucky does notice, because he's the guy about to be mugged.

Maybe it's his fault, for looking for a job in a bad neighborhood. But those are the kind of places that don't ask too many questions and don't require a fancy degree. Maybe it was a flash of silver under his left sleeve that made him a target, picked up under the uneven glow of a flickering streetlamp.

All he knows is that he barely has time to clench his fists before the goon disappears down an alleyway. ]

[ A moment after the unfortunate thug disappears, Diana makes her way out of the alley, looking mildly miffed. She doesn't appreciate having to utilize Batman's methods – they work well enough for Bruce, but they grate against her own preferred way of doing things.

But if she has to remain unseen for the moment, well – there really isn't a better crimefighter to emulate. (There's no sign of the goon. He's peacefully sleeping off his bad decisions, tucked away in the alley.)

There's a brief moment of guilty surprise as she looks over at the would-be victim, recognizing him. ]

Oh – Bucky, isn't it?

[ She's not wearing her costume today; instead, she's in civilian clothing, jeans and a cotton t-shirt. The ever-present lasso, however, still hangs from her hip, and her smile is genuine and warm, if a little sheepish. ]

Hello. It's nice to see you again.

( like her, there isn't much in the way of having things to move in and with his own floor being a couple below hers, he's mostly been keeping to himself there, getting things organized and all. at some point, though, he decides to check in on her since, well. they're technically living in the same building now and all. even if he's still as ever much the recluse as he was in the beginning. sometimes it's simply having another's presence around or close by that he finds is what he needs.

he's eyeing the bags of candy there on the table, hands slipped into his pant pockets, and he looks over to her floating there as she adjusts things here and there. )

Didn't know you were into Halloween.

I'm not, for myself. But why not help the children have fun?

[ She adjusts the hook, then hangs the pot, eying the way the ivy trails critically. Although she isn't much of a gardener, she's hopeful she can at least keep a few houseplants alive. ]

Although I'll have to come downstairs to the front door to hand the candy out.

[ Diana casts a smile at him, over her shoulder. ]

You could help.

( softly, a huff. )

Maybe.

( it's not a no, but it's also not a yes, either. )

I was thinking maybe we could have some of the others over. ( a beat. ) A sort of housewarming, maybe.

Maybe, [ she teases. But his next statement is more interesting, and she considers it as she arranges the ivy's tendrils. ]

I think that sounds like a nice time. When were you thinking?

Friday?

( a shrug, he leans against the kitchen counter there, hands still in his pockets. )

Close enough to Halloween you could have this place decorated for it a bit, if you wanted.

[ It's always Halloween at the Wayne household. In aesthetics, anyway. ]

Alright. I'd like that. Have you invited anyone yet?

( a beat. )

The children.

( and that... sounds really weird to say. )

I see I'm the last to know, despite also living here.

[ Her tone is dry, but she's not terribly annoyed; it's just how he is. If anything, perhaps she ought to be pleased he thought to tell her about it ahead of time.

She floats gently down to the floor, then comes to the kitchen sink to wash her hands. ]

Good. I've been meaning to talk to you about something Kyle and I discussed, anyway.

( he refrains from saying anything in regards to her first bit. it's the second part that gets him raising a brow. gets him staring to her a little curiously. a little... unsure. )

What's that?

[ She flicks water off her fingers and reaches for a towel, turning to him with a hip nocked against the counter as she dries her hands. ]

He and I were both thinking that given the changes since our return from the past – and given the visibility of our powers – it may be an opportune time to join the Alliance. Him and me, of course. I suspect you still won't have any interest; am I right?

[batsymbol]

( hm.

hands slipping out his pockets, arms come to cross in front of his chest then, bruce eyeing diana curiously. but also a little more intensely. )

No. I don't.

So I suspected.

[ It's a shame, but this Bruce is years away from the League – if the League will even come to exist in his world, which is by no means certain. Diana turns and hangs the towel up, then starts looking through the cabinets for – ah, there it is. She fills a small kettle with water and brings it to the stove to heat. ]

Kyle will make his own decision, and I will make mine. But I value your opinion. What do you think of this new Alliance?

This isn't my world and so I trust very little of anything here.

( anything and anyone native to it, that is. not that bruce is entirely trusting to begin with, but. )

[ She leans back against the counter as the water begins to heat. ]

I cannot do what I need to do while always looking over my shoulder. I'm not accustomed to living in the shadows. The Alliance may not be the League, but it has potential.

Potential.

( it's not phrased as a question but more a sort of disbelief, if his dry tone is anything to go by, that is. )

I see potential in a great many places others don't, it turns out.

[ Like... in this version of Bruce, for example. ]

( he still doesn't exactly look thrilled with the idea. )

And what potential do you see in this Alliance?

The arguments for joining the Alliance are not so different from those for joining the League, except that I don't know these heroes so well as I do my friends at home.

[ She curls her hands at the edge of the counter and looks down, breathing out a soft sigh. ]

This world needs more help than I can give it on my own, Bruce. And perhaps I could have some influence on the Alliance, keep it growing in a positive direction. Atomight remembers what happened with Chaos Gate; he knows how I've helped before. Perhaps he'll be willing to listen to me.

[batsymbol]

( he's silent — lets her say what she wants to in regards to this choice she's considering. that she and kyle are both considering. it's not his choice to make — not anything he can tell either of them to go through with or not, so.

dragging his teeth over his bottom lip for a moment, he glances off to the side. )

Maybe. Maybe not.

[ Her smile is a little wry as she lifts it to him. ]

As usual, you err on the pessimistic, and I on the optimistic. But I'm glad to be able to talk things like this over with you.

You're a grown woman. I'm not about to tell you what you can and can't do.

( it's said rather dryly and with a slight shrug of his shoulders. arms still crossed in front of his chest, a casual glance over to her. )
