It's Friday October 27th when this housewarming shindig happens at the townhouse in Central he's recently purchased for himself and with it being so close to Halloween, he decides to decorate it a little. Or maybe a lot. He's still trying to get the hang of this whole Bruce Wayne thing. Either way, the lower floor of the five-story townhouse is decorated for the spooky season and the one floor he'd prefer people to stick to since he's not the only one who lives here. There's food and refreshments available with something hopefully for everyone and if you're in the mood for something a little more spooky for a drink, there's this little guy lined up along one of the tables to be enjoyed, the flavor being a tart pomegranate with a touch of sweetness to it. Yes, it can also be alcoholic and yes, he has someone stationed there to ensure those of age to drink are the ones taking the alcoholic version of that. On your way in or out, don't forget to say hi to the concierge for the night and feel free to take your complimentary pumpkin bucket filled with candy he has for guests. Don't worry about checking the candy for trackers. It's not like he would ever do such a thing. 😇 Happy Housewarming Halloween. ooc notes: just a stupid little housewarming mingle thrown together where bruce makes an attempt to Do Something for his kiddos and friends he has here. Diana also lives within the townhouse and so friends of hers are welcome to stop by as well if she'd invite them. whoever the kiddos want to bring along with them are also welcome to stop by but please stick to the first floor where the shindig is or else bruce is going to be Disappointed aka i'm still figuring out the rest of the floors.

[At that, Jason’s expression softens and looks more considerate. Bruce is right that it would be for her privacy instead of out of respect for him]

I promise I won’t bug it. To be honest, I’m surprised you two are living together.

( he knows they won't stop bugging or tracking him, but diana doesn't deserve that invasion of privacy. at his surprise at her living here, he glances to jason for a moment before he looks back around at everything. )

She has her own floor. ( so it's not technically living together? at least in bruce logic. ) Better than staying at the hotel any longer.

( contrary to how much bruce tends to push others away and keep to himself, he does care and he is generous with those he cares for. )

Naturally.

[Jason and the rest of the family would count that as cohabitating]

You joining the Alliance?

[batsymbol]

( a huff. )

No.

( though diana and kyle are considering. much to his displeasure. )

Are you?

[Jason snorts]

Hell no. Pretty sure how I do things doesn’t work for their little clubhouse.

[batsymbol]

We're also outsiders here, even if we make a place for ourselves. If things come down to it, they'd probably protect their own over us.

( aka bruce has trust issues. )

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised. After everything that's happened before I can't trust that this'll stay consist. It'd be good for us to have multiple bases just in case.

Someone or someones on the inside.

( sort of like how he has gordon on the gcpd. )

Sounds like we'll have good coverage for the Alliance at least.

[Meanwhile, there are multiple reasons why Jason's with the Society]

( even if bruce is still rather wary about that. )

What do you think of the guilds?

I don't trust them.

( it's said so casually as he slowly looks over to jason there. )

You think they're just two sides of the same coin?

[batsymbol]

( bruce has a tendency to assume the worst. though he's trying to be better at that with people. )

I think I wouldn't trust handing my identity over to something like a guild where it can be used against me.

[robintohood]

Hence why it took so long for any of us to bother with joining them. But even then, it's a risk.

[Though Jason's been fortunate so far to keep his civilian identity away from the Society]

For people like us, who don't have to rely on powers to begin with, it's not that difficult to blend in. For others born with them or having had them a great deal of their lives, I can see why they'd want the security of being protected.

( bruce can easily do what he needs to do without tapping into the powers he's been given here, much as he suspects the birds can. but people like kyle and diana... it's more difficult for them, he knows. )

Is that what it is for Diana and Kyle?

[Bruce is right that the BatFamily is already used to working in the shadows and covering their tracks. They're all well-trained and experienced. Meanwhile, others are different from the Bats and prefer to work in the light]

Most likely.

( he looks to jason before he lets his gaze drift off into the party. )

[There's an awkward beat between the two before Jason decides to speak again]

It's good you all came back in one piece.

[He still doesn't like nor trust Bruce with a lot of things but Diana did say to keep an old mind about this particular version of his adoptive father. Plus, he knows the others have their own feelings about Bruce that aren't the same as his]

[batsymbol]

( that's a little unexpected to hear but bruce doesn't shrug it off. instead, he looks over to jason again and hums to himself before he looks back out. )

I get the feeling TJ isn't happy we went in the first place, but. We did what we did.

[Jason hasn't forgotten TJ calling himself the most expendable before the time traveling excursion. He's still not happy about it]

There were some things going on with TJ. Still are but the important thing is we're all still here and relatively fine.

Yeah.

( he hasn't wanted to pry and knows the older tim has been rather curt with him, but. he's also not sure what to do about that. if he should leave it alone or seek him out. this isn't anything bruce has much experience with. having others around like this. )

He has you.

He has others too. They know him better than I do. We didn't meet until the Confluence dropped us in the middle of a Kansas potato field.

[It was an awkward first meeting to say the least]

( he looks to jason with a raised brow, as if trying to imagine that. )

Yeah. Don't know about TJ but one moment I was in Gotham, the next I was digging myself out of a potato field on this world.
