[By god, the weird (and only sometimes shady) New Jerseyian karaoke bar in the middle of Michigan has made it. The Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge has hit its first anniversary. To celebrate, there are special discount rates for customers and even deeper ones for the repeated loyal clients.

Because Descendant’s birthday is also at the very beginning of the winter holiday season, the whole place has been decorated to reflect the occasions. There’s the usual colorful tinsel, wreathes, Santa hats, and fake holly plants but there are also special additions the Descendant’s staff did. There are hidden Santa Gritty figures and decorations throughout the building. More blatant are the Christmas trees throughout the building adorned with Gritty baubles. Instead of an elf on a shelf, behind the bar on the top shelf is a Gritty figure next to the maneki-neko figure Mayuko gifted Jason last year during Descendant’s grand opening. Both figures are there all year round but for this time of the year, they’re rocking Santa hats too.

As for the Descendant’s owner, his presence is oddly sparse despite his business hitting a milestone. Jason’s still monitoring daily operations and is still making sure tasks are being properly delegated but during these last weeks of the year, he’s not at Descendant as often as he usually is. He can still be contacted though, namely if there’s an emergency.

Meanwhile, if one were to carefully eavesdrop on some of the Descendant’s more shady customers, one might hear that the Backbreakers gang and their leader, the Red Hood, might be having… problems holding their remaining territory. The rumors have been going since mid-November after the mysterious bombings to several of the Backbreakers’ safehouses.

So come in from the cold and celebrate, be it Descendant’s birthday or a winter holiday. Have a holiday drink like a spiked eggnog, a gingerbread martini, or a wassail. The karaoke machines are full of holiday songs to sing to as well.]

Jason walks over to the Santa Gritty in the chair to pick it up. When he turns around, he jumps from seeing the second Gritty in the doorway.

“Jesus! You’re not screwing with me, Gritty.”

Maybe he is. Maybe he is. Because now there's a third Santa Gritty in play, sitting innocently on a bookcase. Staring at him. Jollily.

“Grittys should be breeding,” Jason grumbles. He looks over the third Gritty and his senses are on the lookout for the prankster.

Luckily for Tim, he'd managed to hold onto one last Gritty who - when Jason's back is turned - launches at him from a corner of the room.

Ho ho ho.

Jason spins and catches the last Gritty.

“Alright, I know you’re here somewhere,” he smirks. Despite his earlier comments, he’s enjoying this little stealth game.

He’s not showing himself yet, but he’s not exactly hiding beyond using his power yet. Jason’s actually looking for someone in the room now, even if he doesn’t know it’s Tim, so he wants to know how long it will take before his power fails to hide him anymore.

For now, he’s just staying still and quiet.

Jason’s office isn’t very big so there are only so many hiding spots one could have. He starts to walk around, senses sharpened to try to find someone. He’s also aware that metapowers could be at play too.

They're practically playing Marco Polo on land at this point, Tim moving quietly to keep out of Jason's direct reach but not actually hiding beyond keeping his powers working as best they can.

Soon it clicks for Jason who it might be.

“Tim?” He grins, still moving.

Now that Jason knows who he's looking for, Tim can almost feel his ability to stay hidden losing power, and since he doesn't want to hurt Jason by accident from trying to make it work too long, he lets go of it, just - existing now, probably in Jason's periphery until he turns his head.

Once he sees his little brother, Jason laughs and playfully tries to put Tim in a headlock.

“You little shit,” he says, amused.

Tim ducks the headlock as best he can, having expected it or something like that. "I was practicing!"

“Yeah, I noticed,” Jason snorts. “Ice cold of you to turn Gritty against me.”

He playful throws one of the Grittys back to him.

Tim deflects the flying Gritty, sending it back across the room. “Maybe they just wanted to stretch their legs!”

[robintohood]

“No relaxing in the boss’s office. Rules are rules!” Jason jokes back.

[overlyprecocious]

“No wonder they’re organizing against you,” Tim says sadly. “No place to take their breaks.”

[robintohood]

"Well that's rude," Jason says as he leaves one Gritty on his desk. "After everything I've done for them too."

Dubious. “What have you done for the Gritty people?”

[robintohood]

“I’m a job provider and gave them more PR,” Jason laughs.

[overlyprecocious]

Tim gives him a look that can only be described as Doubtful. “What would they say if I asked them?”

[robintohood]

“Nothing that’s complaining. That’s for sure,” Jason says, still amused.

[overlyprecocious]

“What do you think?” Tim asks the nearest Gritty. “Could your working conditions be improved?”

[robintohood]

“See? He’s speechless,” Jason quips.

[overlyprecocious]

“I’m going to have to ask you to step outside so your employees can feel comfortable speaking,” Tim informs him.

Jason attempts to pull Tim into a headlock again to noogie him.

“How do I know I won’t get attacked from behind again, huh?”
