[By god, the weird (and only sometimes shady) New Jerseyian karaoke bar in the middle of Michigan has made it. The Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge has hit its first anniversary. To celebrate, there are special discount rates for customers and even deeper ones for the repeated loyal clients.

Because Descendant’s birthday is also at the very beginning of the winter holiday season, the whole place has been decorated to reflect the occasions. There’s the usual colorful tinsel, wreathes, Santa hats, and fake holly plants but there are also special additions the Descendant’s staff did. There are hidden Santa Gritty figures and decorations throughout the building. More blatant are the Christmas trees throughout the building adorned with Gritty baubles. Instead of an elf on a shelf, behind the bar on the top shelf is a Gritty figure next to the maneki-neko figure Mayuko gifted Jason last year during Descendant’s grand opening. Both figures are there all year round but for this time of the year, they’re rocking Santa hats too.

As for the Descendant’s owner, his presence is oddly sparse despite his business hitting a milestone. Jason’s still monitoring daily operations and is still making sure tasks are being properly delegated but during these last weeks of the year, he’s not at Descendant as often as he usually is. He can still be contacted though, namely if there’s an emergency.

Meanwhile, if one were to carefully eavesdrop on some of the Descendant’s more shady customers, one might hear that the Backbreakers gang and their leader, the Red Hood, might be having… problems holding their remaining territory. The rumors have been going since mid-November after the mysterious bombings to several of the Backbreakers’ safehouses.

So come in from the cold and celebrate, be it Descendant’s birthday or a winter holiday. Have a holiday drink like a spiked eggnog, a gingerbread martini, or a wassail. The karaoke machines are full of holiday songs to sing to as well.]

Yeah, I get how that feels.

Yeah? [He isn't overly surprised to hear that. He's already well aware of the Jasons' self-loathing, so it isn't a leap for this Jason to be dealing with this kind of thing, too.] How the hell do you deal with it?

[robintohood]

[Jason scoffs]

Still working on that. Telling them to fuck off would only cause more drama. That’s all I know.

[levelshift]

I tell them that all the time. They just ignore me.

[robintohood]

Yeah, it's because they don't believe whatever you said and still like you.

[levelshift]

[He sighs heavily.]

Sometimes I can't stand it.

[Not enough to actually do anything about it, because as much as he gripes he doesn't want the only friends he's ever had to ditch him.]

[robintohood]

Maybe in the end it’s a good thing.

[He doesn’t know the turtles as well as Accelerator does but Jason knows what it’s like to not expect to make friends but have them anyway. It’s jarring and asking for more trouble but Jason would also have a hard time arguing against how nice it feels to have friends]

[levelshift]

It can't be for them.

[There's no way. He's a monster, and knowing a monster never ends well for a good person. His own view on this doesn't matter.]

Has anything happened to them because of you?

[Jason knows there’s self-loathing happening but perhaps working through the facts could help with some things. Or at least help unpack some feelings]

[levelshift]

[He shakes his head.]

Not that I know of, but I don't know if they'd tell me something did. They might keep it to themselves.

[To try and be nice to him, or something.]

[In a matter-of-fact tone]

They care about you, even if you don’t feel like you deserve it.

[levelshift]

They're idiots if they do.

[They really shouldn't be doing that, especially given they know the situation with the Sisters. He just sighs.]

How's your damn shoulder?

[Jason huffs]

Fine. Got help healing it after I left. Thanks again for before.

[He has no regrets having another fight with his double though]

[levelshift]

[He's not about to judge either Jason for that fight, not when he understands why it happened.]

I didn't do anything important.

From the way you explained, it’s a hell of an ability to have.

[levelshift]

It's versatile, I guess. But I don't usually use it like that.

Still nice to have. You’ve patched up others before?

[levelshift]

[Accelerator pauses as he thinks for a moment. Only one case is coming to mind, and it wasn't really patching her up. It was a lot more than that.

His expression hardens and he looks away.]

... Only once.

[robintohood]

[Jason sees the change in Accelerator’s expression. Evidently he’s hit a sensitive topic]

That bad, huh?

[levelshift]

[There's a pause where he debates just going along with that, saying 'yes,' and dropping the subject. It'd be a lot easier, even though it'd be a total lie.

His eye twitches and he drags his hand down his face, exasperated with himself.]

No. She's fucking fine, actually. Basically a one hundred percent recovery.

[robintohood]

Because of you, time, or both?

[levelshift]

[Because of him, but saying that out loud means admitting he did something good, and we can't have that.]

It doesn't fucking matter. Don't expect me to do that again.

[That is complete bullshit, if either of the Jasons are ever bleeding out again he will one hundred percent help them out.]

[robintohood]

That's fine. I wasn't expecting it the first place anyway.

[Though what Jason did expect while trying to go all out on his double could probably lead to some uncomfortable topics for him]

[levelshift]

[Accelerator shrugs.]

I wasn't expecting to come across you two. I can't say I'm surprised at all, though.

[Jason scoffs]

Yeah. After everything we both said, I’m sure.
