[ sunset falls knows how to celebrate.

loki hadn't been around for this one. not that he minds it much now. it is amusing to see how decked out everything is. from magical cookies to hearts nailed onto trees. truly this is the best town in america. he does pause to admire the handiwork (and makes a note to follow that up later. he really doesn't want another cult running amuck in his town).

at any rate, loki thought it might be fun for both of them to see what the festival is all about. he squeezes sephiroth's arm. ]

Well... I suppose I always imagined a prince as being something of a dandy.

Is that so?

They're simply a concept, of course. My world no longer has royalty.

I suppose it's not something to picture.

I didn't spend much time on it, no. Hence my idea being unformed.

What is your idea of a prince, then?

[ loki taps his chin, mulling it over. ]

A prince has to be many things. A warrior. A diplomat. A herald. A general. It can be luxurious but it is always a tenuous reality.

And you must always be ready for war.

Is it reasonable to expect all that of one man?

[dothelokimotion]

[ he shrugs. ]

That was the expectation, reasonable or not.

We were Gods. We ruled the shining jewel of the universe.

Yes. Gods, plural.

And Gods still had kings and princes.

Even Omnipotence City has a ruler.

I suppose I just think rulers ought to be able to delegate.

I don't think my father was known for delegating.

And was he a successful king?

[ loki pauses for a moment. ]

I . . . suppose he was. For a time.

Would he have succeeded for longer had he learnt to delegate?

[ loki huffs softly. ]

I think the problems he faced were much larger than delegation of duties.

Well, then he's hardly a model in any event.

No. He must have been a good king, once. But it was long ago.

Perhaps it's too long to be king, as well.

Our lives are rather long.

You have a great deal of experience. But I imagine one can become stagnant in the same role for too long.
