It's barbeque season in Little Love! It's also alien season, but enough about that.

This is an open event, so please feel free to make your own top-level based on whatever!

Eddie will be around cooking and chatting. You're more than welcome to explore the ranch and the surrounding areas on your own. Just be kind to the animals, or Venom will escort you out and it will be aggressive.

Activities of the night include cooking, eating, horseback riding, braiding the horses' manes, roasting marshmallows, sparklers, enjoying music, sharing scary stories, going for a swim in the adjacent lake, and, of course, being visited by aliens at some point in the night.

( oh, god, there's a whole other person out here. he might have noticed before if he hadn't spent the past five minutes fighting with his alien counterpart and losing. )

They make clothes specifically for swimming nowadays, you know. On Earth, at least. Maybe not in other places. You want some swim clothes? I can probably find you something around here.

[ Sometimes, Balthier is compassionate and follows his better nature and the cues he's getting that someone is uncomfortable and would rather be given an out.

This is not one of those times. ]

Seems a waste of time and energy when this works perfectly well. [ And the rest of his clothes are off and he is very naked. ]

Shall I weigh in on how many of those adjectives are accurate? Or do you want to get in and escape both our eyes.

[ Look he doesn't really care if they bolt. But this is extremely amusing. Without entirely waiting for an answer, he'll go wade in. A little cold, but a sandy beach entry, and that's appreciated. He hated water plants in his toes. ]

( bold of balthier to see a man of distress and continue on with his distressing behaviors. and by bold, we mean rude. why does eddie feel so put upon? why? is it two against one?? why does he choose to surround himself with people so willing to get naked at a moment's notice— )

All right, all right... logistically, yes, going balls out is the better option.

( and balthier is already balls out, so chances are he wasn't waiting for eddie's logistical analysis. )

( with eddie's go ahead, venom tears their clothes off in a flurry of tentacles and goo. there goes his dad hat, his hawaiian shirt, his jean shorts. venom's perhaps too enthusiastic, because he chucked their clothes off into the trees somewhere, perhaps never to be seen again.

balthier wades in gently, serenely, but venom sends them careening towards the water as if they were on fire. look, it's on balthier for being in the splash zone at this point. venom would cannonball them in if he could. )

Come now. Let's not throw gender into it. [ while we're speaking about growth...

But as Venom throws Eddie's clothes off, Balthier winces even as he laughs, and calls a hey with no bite as water flies over him. He does not understand their arrangement, but he's glad it's not his. Venom seems like...a lot. ]

You're going to scare all the wishing fish. [ There are no wishing fish. ]

( venom is a lot, true, but he can also be pretty cool. those cool moments are rare, but it's nice when they come along. like being naked in a lake with a stranger. totally a cool moment, just one that eddie isn't appreciating. because he's stubborn. perhaps they need to wade out further in order to understand the true joys of the sea. )

Wishing fish? ( eddie looks down. ) ...Might be able catch a few crawfish. Maybe an eel? Didn't grow up in a place like this, so you're gonna have to excuse my Kansas aquatic life... lack of knowledge...

You got wishing fish where you're from? Like shooting stars?

[ To be clear, Balthier enjoys 'a lot.' And is a lot.

And maybe he shouldn't be enjoying Eddie's discomfort but it is genuinely harmless and he would be the man will end up having more fun than if he hadn't come out.

Also wishing fish are absolutely a child's tale at home and Balthier is just blowing off steam by being a royal ass. He wades farther out into the water, drink in hand, eyes drifting up toward the skies, because really, that's where he wants to be. ]

Similar. If you see their glow and catch them, you'll get a wish. Generally agreeable creatures, don't twist things. But if you accidentally kill one, you're cursed for all eternity. Soul bound to the Mist to never truly die.

( he's in the water. he's naked. no one is dying. nothing is on fire. everything is as it should be in the world. )

So, like genies but better. ( the killing part has him frowning. ) They should be pretty easy avoid, glowing and all. Can't imagine that happening too often.

( it sounds like a fairy tale, total nonsense, but it's cute. not much different from wishing on stars, or wishbones, or eyelashes. and it's cool to hear about other people's cultures from their homes. )
