Who: Jason Todd robintohood and you
What: Jason’s been deaged back to his early Robin years. Antics ensue. Also contains one special closed prompt

[Somewhere in Central City is a small boy in a red, yellow, and green costume. It’s hard to forget someone in a colorful suit like that.

That is, assuming you can catch a good enough look at him. He’s effortlessly using his grappling gun and parkour skills to swing around and jump rooftops. You might see him as he tries to get a lay of the land.

Alternatively, you might see him fearlessly (or recklessly, depending on how you look at it) pounce right on top of a would-be armed mugger. He might not know where he is but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop fighting crime. It’s what any good sidekick would do.]

Attic Safehouse above the Descendant Bar (Closed to people who use the safehouse)

[Later that night, Robin is exhausted but isn’t ready to trust just any place to rest for the night. For now, he’s just perched on top of the Descendant, near the attic window]

[Jason awes when he watches Doreen launch herself and land near him]

That was cool! You're training to be a hero?

[ She beams. Doreen isn't really used to showing off her powers in front of people, so this is a high compliment! ]

Thanks! I'd like to, but I live way out in the suburbs, there's no crime to fight. Plus, I'd have to finish all my homework first.

Yeah, homework doesn't stop even when you're a city hero. I still gotta deal with that.

How do you have time for everything? That sounds like an awful lot.

[Like having a schedule and not going on patrol on weekdays]

It helps that I'm not alone too.

[ her partner in crimefighting is a squirrel, but she's still not sure how open to be about her powers with this kid, so she'll keep that on the down-low for now! ]

Are you cold? I have an extra jacket and some sweaters, if you want.

Nah. Don't worry about it. I got a handle on this.

[A Robin needs to be used to the shorts]

You're gonna be part of a team?

[ upholding tradition is one thing, shorts in january is another! ]

I have a... a partner, back home! He's my best friend. We're gonna be great.

Cool! What else can you do?

[Jason hasn't really met any other sidekicks close to his age so far. He only knows former ones]

... You have to promise not to tell anyone. Okay? Seriously, you have to promise. It's really, really important.

[ She holds out one hand, pinky extended. ]

Pinky swear on it.

[Jason takes off one glove to show how serious he's going to take this. He then does the pinky swear with her]

I promise.

[ The pinky swear pact is sealed! Doreen steps back, awkwardly shuffles around in the enormous coat - there is no subtle way to pull a tail out of your pants - until the giant, fluffy tail finally pops out and curls around her legs. ]

I've got claws, too. And the teeth. And I can jump really high, and climb things, and, um, talk to squirrels. That's more recent though.

[Jason puts back on his glove as he looks back at excitedly]

Coooool. So you're a squirrel girl? Were you always like that?

[ She grins. He thinks she's cool! He thinks her tail is cool! This is unheard of! ]

Yeah! I have to hide the tail most of the time, though. And the talking is new, that just started a few weeks ago.

[It's such a strange powerset Jason's never heard of but he's intrigued]

So what are squirrels really like?

They're a lot nicer than most people. I'd take squirrels over my classmates any day.

[ At this point, she's just moved to a new town, and settling into school has not been fun. ]

[Jason furrows his brow. He still has much to learn about being a detective but Doreen's statement seems clear enough]

They make fun of you for the tail?

No, no, I can hide that pretty easy. It's the teeth. I just started at a new school like a week ago, and everyone's already calling me 'rodent'.

Well that's not right. They don't even know you yet.

[eatsnutsandkicksbutts]

Even if they did, it'd still be mean.

[ But this is starting to bum her out, so instead of talking about school, she jumps to a happier subject! ]

What about you? Do you go to school? What's your partner like?

[robintohood]

Of course I go to school! Gotta keep learning if I wanna keep being a hero.

[To Jason, it's so odd for someone to see him in his Robin suit and not associate him with Batman but he's always happy to show off who he works with]

My partner's a big guy dressed in black and kinda looks like a bat. Not a real one but you can tell from his suit what he's going for. He's amazing and kicks butt all the time!

Is he a vampire??

[Smirks]

No but bad guys should be afraid of him anyway. You never know when he's gonna pop up.

Sure sounds like a vampire. A vampire who fights crime!

[ Tell her that is not the coolest concept ever! ]
