( CLOSED TO ALINA ) Central City -- The Opherium

[ he hopes this one comes through. with help being so short in the theatre, he's concerned he may not be able to keep it afloat. and while his job as mayor ensures his success, it would be a shame to let this go.

loki relaxes a little when alina appears. ]

Welcome.

[sunmon]

Loki. Uh, Sir. [ what title do you use for a mayor? she's fumbling over it a little bit. ] Thank you for finding the time to meet with me.

[ she's gotten around to wearing modern clothing — a long summery black skirt and a gaudier golden blouse. her kefta has been folded away and tucked into a closet for now—after all, she hasn't even decided yet if she's going to do any heroics.

she awkwardly inclines her head towards him. there's no offer of a handshake. he's a government official! ]

[dothelokimotion]

[ his lips quirk upwards at the use of sir. he's dressed in his customary black suit and white shirt, a green scarf settled around his neck. there is a magical snake cuff clipped to his ear. ]

Loki will do. There's no need for such formality here. Come inside, I will show you around.

[ he gestures for her to step into the opherium ]

[sunmon]

[ she glances at him once more before stepping in ahead of him, lifting her head to inspect the crown moulding and the walls, more intricate than any theater that she's seen.

then again, she'd largely only been to community theaters, the sort put on by traveling groups when the performers came through. ] Is this yours or the city's?

[dothelokimotion]

It is mine. When I chose a guild, I asked for their financial support in creating this theatre.

Now it stands on its own. I am quite proud of it.

[sunmon]

It's beautiful. [ she smiles, nodding her affirmation of that pride. ]

Which guild? [ she asks like it matters, but mostly she's just probing for more information, for better understanding of how one would choose which to join if — as it sounds like — the primary interest lay with their financial support. after all, either could give that. ]

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki is flippant in his response. ]

The Alliance. They seemed the most influential and they did not ask for much beyond a standard fee.

[sunmon]

That's very practical of you.

[ she wishes she had that. the ability to just worry about the logic of it, do the thing that makes the most sense. she doesn't even know what the most sense would be here.

she walks slowly, keeping an eye on him as much as on the theater around them, trying to ensure that she doesn't go past something that warrants explanation, or wind up somewhere she shouldn't go. ]

I am a very pragmatic god.

[ says loki, as he takes her through his fancy theatre, with marble floor and plush carpeting. it isn't a lie, loki does ground himself in realities quite well. he simply enjoys the luxuries life can afford him and would always seize them when the opportunity is given.

the theatre was that. and his shield against a constantly eroding sense of self and a grief that never seems to end.

finally he takes her backstage, to show her the props and sets they use, how they work. his descriptions are perfunctory — he knows his theatre, but his tone remains level and polite, not once seeming annoyed or frustrated by going over it a few times more if necessary. ]

Do you have any questions?

[sunmon]

[ alina stops abruptly at the edge of the backstage, turning to look at him, incredulous. there is the wonder of the theater to consider, yes, but there is also — ]

Sorry, did you say god?

[ if she hadn't already spoken with amaterasu, she might have just presumed him to be a very self-aggrandizing politician. ]

[dothelokimotion]

[ that's not wrong. he is that, very much so. ]

Ah, yes. I am Loki, God of Mischief.

[sunmon]

Is that ...

[ how to approach this question. she opens her mouth, stops, folds her hands in front of her. ]

... Does that happen a lot, here? Gods.

[dothelokimotion]

[ he considers that for a moment. ]

There are a few Gods around this world. Among the Summoned, there are but a few.

( CLOSED TO SEPHIROTH )

[ sleep has never come easily to him.

when he was young, he used to be prone to night terrors and frights. always wondering if something would creep through the window. but thor was always there. I'll hunt the monsters down and slay them all.

so much for that. loki stirs, restless, his fingers latched onto sephiroth, his brow furrowed. he had absorbed so many strange minds of late. the aliens from the islands, hojo and he never had any time to truly process them, relegating back to the shadows from whence they came.

finally, he sighs, giving up and letting himself stare at the ceiling. ]

[unkindled_madness]

[Sephiroth has always been a light sleeper, when he sleeps. A few hours here and there, when it was absolutely necessary, but it always felt like letting his guard down.

He does better with Loki. He trusts Loki. But sharing a bed with him is still something new. Loki's restless movements rouse him, and there's a moment where he tenses, forgetting whose company he's in, nearly reaching for a weapon.]

...Loki?

[dothelokimotion]

[ he sighs quietly, a soft shudder. ]

My apologies. Did I wake you?

[unkindled_madness]

It's all right.

[He tries to force himself to relax, with limited success.]

You can't sleep?

[dothelokimotion]

[ he notices that and looks away for a moment, pained. ]

Just memories. It takes time for them to fade.

[unkindled_madness]

[He's just bad at relaxing okay.]

...do you need a distraction?

[dothelokimotion]

[ despite himself, that prompts a softer smile. ]

In the middle of the night?

[unkindled_madness]

We're both awake, aren't we?

[dothelokimotion]

Technically, I woke you up.

[ he sighs. ]

But I would welcome a distraction.

[unkindled_madness]

I'm no less awake.

[Hm, what's a good distraction.]

My collection of books is growing.

[dothelokimotion]

[ that prompts a light chuckle as he shifts to lie on his chest, so he can look over at sephiroth. ]
