That is a small world.

[ not a condemnation or a judgement. just a fact. ]

I hailed from a star. I've travelled across the universe. I have walked through hollow moons and empty planets. Your world can be small or you can make it big.

It is up to you.

Perhaps you can start with a theatre. This is your world for now.

Well, it certainly feels like a universe's worth of unfamiliar things.

[ she looks back down over the sound board, then back at him. ]

I've never seen a theater anything like this. I mean, I know there's plenty that don't move, but none I've seen. Certainly none this grand. [ it's embarrassing, actually, how provincial she feels. ] I'm sorry. I don't know if I'm going to be much help to you at all here.

[ loki hums. ]

Do you want to learn? Do you want to be here?

[sunmon]

[ well, that's a different question. she looks up at him, brow furrowed a bit. she nods, slowly. ]

I do. [ but that's not really worth much, is it? not without the skill to do it. it's all the same reasons that she'd been stuck drawing maps instead of exploring any other kind of art. practicality. ]

[ he shrugs, nonchalant. ]

Then that is enough for me. Take your time to learn, devote yourself and you have a place here.

For my theatre, what I want is people to choose to be here.

[sunmon]

Actually, while I learn ... [ she turns away from the lighting board with a little further consideration. ] I should be able to do this without the machines.

[ his eyebrows go up. ]

Oh? Magic, I presume?

[sunmon]

[ there's a casual laziness about how she draws her palm in a fluid motion, twisting her hand in a flourish that spawns a little orb of light. it swells to the size of a grape fruit before she casts it across the room, a tiny sun. ]

Small science, but from what I understand of most people's use of the word magic, it's near enough.

[ not a witchlight, but stronger. interesting. ]

That should suffice, then.

[sunmon]

I haven't tried changing the color. I'll have to practice.

[ the light blooms, then fades. ]

But I can make several of them, and I can control the intensity.

[ hm. ]

So you are taking the job?

[sunmon]

If you'll have me, gladly.

[ she feels at least a little surer, now, a little less like she'll be tossed out the moment she underperforms, which she feels like she's bound to do. ]

[ he extends his hand politely. ]

Happy to be here, sir. [ a beat. ] Loki.

[ this isn't the army anymore. no need for all that. ]

[ his lips twitch at that. ]

Indeed. Get yourself settled then. My office is not far if you need me.
