[ It's a nice coffeeshop, the kind with white walls, high ceilings, and exposed ductwork, the kind of places you find in Brooklyn, these days, with the kind of prices to match. (When did a cup of coffee start costing $7?)

He's not sure where Jason ran off to and why he left him alone with this guy. (Why is Bucky friends with Jason?)

Before going up to the counter and ordering, there's an awkward silence. This isn't like the other people Bucky's met through Jason, he has no idea what Kyle's deal is. ]

Are you— uh, another one of his brothers?

[ Dark hair, light eyes— they all have a look. ]

I dunno. It's not a calling or anything. I'm not even sure I want to do this forever.

Well, I don't think we're gonna be here forever.

[ Alternate dimensions don't last. ] But the Guilds sure don't want to leave us alone.

[ not what he meant but he'll leave it at that. ]

No. They'll keep us busy.

You noticed anything about 'em, other than the obvious? I've gotten mixed opinions. [ A lecture from Jason, a lecture from Tony. ]

Mixed in what sense?

Jason hates the Alliance, and Stark hates the Society. On a philosophical level.

[torchbearer]

I guess it doesn't really matter to me. Whatever the Guild is, it's still like . . . an organisation that gets to supersede others when they choose to.

That's just not helpful. That's not what we do.

[deadthenred]

Yeah, but it's hard to work underground if you wear your underwear on the wrong side of your pants. [ If you don't cooperate with the Guilds, how long before that gets you into trouble? ]

There was a Registration Act, in my timeline. It caused a lot of problems. Ended with a bad guy running the show.

[torchbearer]

Yeah, nothing that starts with the words "Registration Act" sounds like it will end well.

[ but he shrugs. ]

I'm not too worried about myself.

[ Yeah, he's picking up on that, a little. ]

Guess my money's about to run out.

You think they'll come for you?

Maybe. [ He has to think about it. ] Not right away, though. I think they wanna keep tabs though, just in case.

[ If people with powers get dumped into Bucky's universe, SHIELD would be keeping track of all of them. Or trying to. ]
