Technically speaking, Tim doesn't need to be using the safehouse like he is, but Jason has a good thing going with a hideaway that (hopefully) the Alliance isn't aware of yet. It's nice to be able to visit and be somewhere that Fantastic's goons don't know about, which is why he's dropping in tonight. Once he does the basic stuff - in this case, making sure the area still looks secure, has a good supply of emergency food, and locating Sleeper's hidden chocolate stash so he can tuck away a few new bars with it - he settles in with his laptop to chill and definitely not doomscroll current news to see how much worse Fantastic's making the country lately.

Central City at Night, Bullying the Guards | open to anyone

Robin doesn't usually fly alone officially, and when he is on his own he's somewhat more likely to be in surveillance mode, not fighting. It's how he was taught back home, where Robin is almost always accompanied by Batman, Nightwing, and/or Batgirl, or working with the Team. He's not trained to be a solo act.

He just happens to be one tonight, when he finds some of Fantastic's guards hassling some kid who may or may not even be Starfallen, who even knows? Robin's not letting that stand, regardless. And the good news is, their power dampeners barely affect him, given that his abilities are barely combative in nature and he's used to fighting powerless. So one moment, they're being assholes with a little taste of power, and the next, they're getting their asses kicked by a fourteen-year-old with a bo staff.

"Just wondering, did you read about the goons following fascist ideologies as a kid and think, that's gonna be me?"

What Tim doesn't know what hurt him. Probably.

"It works for them," Jason says. "A lot more chocolate than anything else though."

"Good."

Cause, well. Obvious reasons. Sleeper is cute, at least.

"You two got along okay?" Jason asks.

As much as Jason cares about Sleeper, he recognizes that some people might find them odd or unnerving. Even while they're adorably cat-shaped.

“I guess? We haven’t met much.”

Though they were very cute.

[robintohood]

"You'll get used to them. When they're in the mood for it, they like the attention," Jason says.

He then goes over to check on the first aid supplies into another cabinet.

"How far out do you stock this safehouse for?" Tim asks, as if he hasn't already run some calculations that answer that question.

[robintohood]

"About three months, depending on how active the place has been," Jason replies. "It's been getting a lot of use since it's technically not just family using it."

It's not a bad estimate, though it's missing a detail. "How many people max for three months?"

[robintohood]

Jason pauses as he tries to work out a rough estimate in his head.

"About four people if they're conservative enough with supplies. Why?"

He senses that something's up with Tim's line of questioning.

“Just curious.”

I’m case they actually do need to hole up in the safehouse at some point.

"Hopefully it doesn't get to that point but you never know," Jason says. "Dick and I have been talking about setting up a Belfry."

As much as Jason tries to work away from the rest of the family, even he has to admit that having a bigger and more secure place for all of them could help a lot.

“Do you have any place in mind?”

It takes Money with a capital M to set something like that up, so he kind of assumes it’s a somewhat long-term project.

"Not yet," Jason replies. "We gotta rack up more money first. Business has been doing okay but better we get a place set up sooner than later."

“Yeah. I’d help, but it’s been pointed out to me that there’s not a lot of jobs a fourteen-year-old can get.”

Mostly when he was trying to convince people he could be okay without a guardian.

[robintohood]

"We'll work something out. Dick and I have plans for this month to help the business," Jason calmly says.

It's just a matter of finding the right time to do Coyote Ugly Nights.

“What plans?” he asks, not knowing that he will 100% regret knowing.

[robintohood]

"Just some special event nights that'll hopefully attract attention," Jason says all too calmly. He knows they will attract attention if only because of Dick's looks and showmanship.

“Oh.”

For the most part, Tim doesn’t pay too much attention to the bar except for any info that can be gleaned from all the bugs. “Okay.”

"So don't worry about you needing to take up a job. We got plans. Plus, Dick's been getting good views from those Haley videos," Jason adds. He knows Tim wants to show again how useful he can be.

“I’ve been helping with those,” he says, brightening up a bit. “Videos weren’t my specialty but it’s been going pretty well.”

Jason internally winces at how quickly Tim brightens up talking about how he's being useful. He knows Dick is trying his best but it's going take a long time before the kid let goes of some of that mentality.

For now, Jason's expression doesn't change.

"It helps that the furball is cute. I'm guessing you also did a lot of photography back home?"

[overlyprecocious]

“Yeah.”

He pulls up a folder of pictures on his laptop and turns it around so Jason can see. It’s a mix of urban photography and Haley photos, clearly taken by someone with skill who’s developing his own style.

“Mostly self-taught. I practiced a lot.”

Jason whistles.

"It shows. They all look good," he says. "What do you like to take pictures of?"

Hopefully the answer is something besides costumed vigilantes.

"I used to follow Batman and Robin around."

"Yeah, I heard the story about TJ. I'm guessing yours is pretty similar," Jason says. "Besides that though."
