It didn't help that the Green Lanterns got a bad rap for a bit because of Parallax. I never did figure out what part of the government was out to get me.

( jason--raises his arm, throws it over the back of the couch behind kyle. )

The government is shit. All of it. Bats could probably figure it out if you asked.

I don't think there's any point to it anymore. Major Force is dead and I doubt they can do anything to me now.

[ other than his mom, who could they even hurt at this juncture? his dad's in hiding and radu can take care of himself. ]

[reneger]

( there's always revenge, kyle. )

If you're sure.

[torchbearer]

I'm sure.

[ he's burned out on all of that. perhaps some day the rage will return — it's always there, somewhere — but for now, he doesn't see the point in it. ]

[reneger]

I could take 'em out for you.

( jason's always down for a little vengeance. )

[ aw. kyle leans to press a kiss to his cheek. ]

I'm sure you could.

( gross. not that he's complaining. the way his mouth twists says ew but the way he leans into kyle screams yes. )

Won't even throw heads in duffel bags this time. Maybe just leave 'em on their desks.

Gotta make sure it's unforgettable, otherwise people'll just pull the same shit over an' over again.

( his arm drops down onto kyle's shoulders, as jason leans against the back of the couch. grins. )

And 'sides, first impressions are everything. I wouldn't want the rest of their crew to underestimate the Red Hood.

I don't even know if there is a crew. Though there's probably always someone in the government giving the stink-eye.

[reneger]

The government's just a bigger gang. Cut off one head, three more grow in it's place. There's always a crew.

[torchbearer]

Exactly.

There doesn't feel like much point in finding them.

And I got Major Force.

[ there's a note of vindictive satisfaction in his voice. ]

I threw his head into space.

Good.

( his hand curls in, fingers brushing through kyle's hair just above his ear. )

He deserved it.

[torchbearer]

He did.

[ there's no waver, not a drop of doubt in his voice. ]

I'd do it again if I could.

[reneger]

As you should.

( jason doesn't know the whole situation, but he doesn't need to either. he knows enough. )

Some people need to be put down, before they cause more damage.

[torchbearer]

Yeah, you're not wrong.

[ kyle is kind and not terribly prone to violence, but he isn't so compassionate that he pulls his punches. ]

[reneger]

( jason--just looks at kyle for a moment. doesn't say a word. then he's using the hand he's got on kyle to pull him a little closer. angles his head enough so jason can lean into him and press a quick, rough kiss to his lips. )

[torchbearer]

[ oh, that is a welcome thing and kyle's lips parts in surprise before he softens into it. ]

[reneger]

( kyle softens into it, and jason presses in deeper. places hand on kyle's thigh and puts his weight in against it so he can lean in closer, press in over him, and curls fingers into kyle's hair with his other hand.

keeps close, until he needs to pull back because jason forgot to breathe. )

Knew I liked you for a reason.

[torchbearer]

[ kyle chuckles softly. ]

It wasn't for my looks?

[reneger]

You're very pretty, but you're not pretty enough for me to keep you around just for that.

( but he is nosing in against kyle. )

Well, I'm flattered you think I'm pretty.

[reneger]

Babe, you're gorgeous.

( and he's not giving kyle his space yet. this is his space now. )
