[There may be some changes to the timeline now but Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is still open for business. There are always people looking to have a good time drinking and blowing off some steam with a good song. It doesn’t matter if they’re ordinary civilians or some of Central City’s more... colorful characters. Just be nice to the bouncers and check your weapons by the entrance first.

To reflect the fall season, Descendant has included seasonal drinks like pumpkin beer, apple cocktails, and spiced maple bourbon.

Meanwhile, some of this month's most popular songs seem to be reflecting Halloween, such as Highway to Hell and Monsters. Or maybe you want to do a more classy number like Witchcraft? Descendant looks like a speakeasy after all. And in a total coincidence, Time Warp has also shown up on the popularity chart.

If you drop by at Descendant on a Coyote Ugly Night, you’ll find the atmosphere considerably wilder and wetter. You might’ve even already seen some of the social media posts and videos of the employees performing. They certainly look like they’re having a good time.

Perhaps you’re coming in during a more normal time. Come by for a drink. Maybe rent a private karaoke room or karaoke on stage in front of others if you’re feeling brave. There are some bar games around too.

You can always just people watch as well. Those who are especially observant might notice that some of Descendant’s customers are a bit... furtive as they keep their heads low or quickly scurry to one of the private rooms.

There’s always the reading room too for those who want a more quiet ambiance.

And then there's the very select few who are allowed upstairs in the attic apartment.

Whatever the case may be, Jason will be around. As Descendant’s owner, he’s a busy guy with plenty he has to do]

[It probably would have been a better idea to visit the Descendant on the 9th. There wouldn't have been a Coyote Ugly Night on, it would have been way less busy on a Monday.

But Mayuko had snagged a deal for plane tickets from Tokyo to Central for the 6th, and since she was already in town, and was feeling bad that she hadn't exactly informed her friend that she had returned in one piece from the past, there was no time like the present to go check in in person.

The main bar space is a little loud for her at the moment, but she does order some refreshment and take in some eye candy. RESPECTFULLY.

She retreats to the good old reading room after a while, trying not to nod off over her beer and a nice art coffee-table-type book. Sometimes you want the deep stuff, sometimes you want to look at pretty pictures!]

HWAH?! Oh, Jason! There you are! Things are... better than they've been. Yeah... what news here? It doesn't seem like frog-people have taken over or... any other major deviations.

Well, there was a portal... and the distinct feeling that I should go through it. It felt like treelady, and it was flickering so there wasn't time to gather things up or call over someone for Jun....

I really am sorry for thrusting her on you but even Dana would have....

It's fine. I get it. It happened so suddenly so you needed to make decisions right there and then. I'm just glad you seem to be okay now. What happened when you went through the portal?

I ended up in Little Love, forty years back. The day before the Godfall Incident would have happened. Everyone must have gotten a different location, but there was the instinct to head to Central. So that's where I went.

[Jason keeps his expression looking concerned. He has briefly gone into the portal as well and experienced with Tim some... unpleasant events. They still need to talk and unpack all of that]

The guilds weren't around yet, but Little Love was still very proud of Atomight. I didn't come across anything about Mechanima, but that's not a surprise. Starstuck was a big deal-- from what I've seen, he's still active?

Yep. He's an Alliance member and tries to help metahuman kids with their powers.

There wasn't a lot of time to get recon from the first-rounders. I found one--he was looking for Eclipse, the murderer of Starstruck's parents. Or would-be murderer. His plot got stopped, but Chaos Gate was ready to initiate an equivalent blast.

In theory, metahumans should be treated better now. The guilds are different to reflect that too.

I meant more that people who would have been victims of the cult dodged that fate. Not that there are guarantees they have or had happy lives, and there's probably a less-entrenched version still pulling shit....

But I agree! Better treatment would still be a plus! How are the guilds coming across now?

Seems like the Alliance is focused on more than just PR now. Or least Starstruck is. Maybe their leadership is more genuine about doing good now.

Don’t really know about the Society but I’d be surprised if they were still the same as before.

I did catch it's not mandatory to join a guild anymore. Perhaps between this and that, they'll be feasible options for more of the Starfallen.

[That would be a mixed bag. Mayuko would not begrudge new Starfallen joining the Alliance. No, it'll be the ones who have been here, joining now that the tides have changed. Now that it's easy.

She closes the art book. No use getting salty over it now. Her membership in the Alliance is secondary to her commitments in Sunset Falls for a few months yet.]

Speaking of... how long has Mal been around?

It’s harder to mistreat a group when there’s a big spike in the population of them. Hopefully Frances has more resources in helping unaffiliated metahumans too now.

[At the mention of Mal, Jason tries to keep his expression neutral]

Mal’s came to us several months ago. Why?
