[There may be some changes to the timeline now but Descendant Karaoke Bar and Lounge is still open for business. There are always people looking to have a good time drinking and blowing off some steam with a good song. It doesn’t matter if they’re ordinary civilians or some of Central City’s more... colorful characters. Just be nice to the bouncers and check your weapons by the entrance first.

To reflect the fall season, Descendant has included seasonal drinks like pumpkin beer, apple cocktails, and spiced maple bourbon.

Meanwhile, some of this month's most popular songs seem to be reflecting Halloween, such as Highway to Hell and Monsters. Or maybe you want to do a more classy number like Witchcraft? Descendant looks like a speakeasy after all. And in a total coincidence, Time Warp has also shown up on the popularity chart.

If you drop by at Descendant on a Coyote Ugly Night, you’ll find the atmosphere considerably wilder and wetter. You might’ve even already seen some of the social media posts and videos of the employees performing. They certainly look like they’re having a good time.

Perhaps you’re coming in during a more normal time. Come by for a drink. Maybe rent a private karaoke room or karaoke on stage in front of others if you’re feeling brave. There are some bar games around too.

You can always just people watch as well. Those who are especially observant might notice that some of Descendant’s customers are a bit... furtive as they keep their heads low or quickly scurry to one of the private rooms.

There’s always the reading room too for those who want a more quiet ambiance.

And then there's the very select few who are allowed upstairs in the attic apartment.

Whatever the case may be, Jason will be around. As Descendant’s owner, he’s a busy guy with plenty he has to do]

[It’s Jason’s way of maintaining a useful connection. It’s only for tonight he’s willing to serve Doreen something on the house but he hopes it leaves a good enough impression]

A pina colada or a strawberry daiquiri might work for you. They’re basically alcoholic fruit drinks. You just gotta be mindful about how much you’re drinking since they’re sweet too.

Oh, you know, uh... gettin' along. Moved back into my apartment, just getting settled in again now that things have calmed down.

[ She glances away, drumming her fingers on the table and looking for a change of topic. ]

... Hey, whatever happened to your bouncer? Wasn't the last one that quiet girl who always stood by the doorway?

Confluence. I miss her but at least she’s back home now.

[Jason means it too. He considers Cass as his sister even though they met only after a Confluence]

Aw, I'm sorry. I always thought she was cool, any girl under 5'4 who can toss a dude twice her size out on his butt deserves mad props.

Exactly. She's easily one of the most badass people I know. I never doubted how good she would be at security.

Man, I saw her toss a dude out once when I dropped by for some webdesign stuff, no arguments from me!

That would be a typical work day for her. I still haven’t met anyone who could stamp out trouble as fast as her.

Man, okay, there's no good way to say this, and I swear I didn't mean to lead the conversation in this direction like "hey, you thought your bouncer was awesome, look at me!", but if you are looking for a substitute, I'm pretty good at tossin' dudes.

[Jason pretends to be surprised]

Really? You know how to fight or something?

Yeah! New York, you know? I took, uh... self-defense classes! And Crossfit?

You sure you got this? The job might get tough sometimes.

I can do a trial night sometime, if you like. I'm stronger than I look!

Sure. Got a time you wanna do this?

Weekend, maybe? I'm good to go whenever, honestly.

Well…

[Before Jason can say more, there’s a commotion at one of the tables. Chairs loudly scrap across the floor and two burly men get up and angrily argue. One man accuses the other of ripping him off earlier in the day.

Jason looks back at the table and then back at Doreen]

How about a trial run?

[ Doreen gives him a silent nod, and walks up to the burly dudes with a bright grin. She's going for the de-escalation approach first, and as she steps between them Jason will be able to hear snippets of conversation like "Hey guys, what seems to be the problem?", "I'm sorry to hear that, Darrell!" and "Listen, I'm sure his mother is a very nice woman, but..." before one of the men snaps, and swings a beer bottle at the other's head. It shatters on Doreen's forearm, and within a second she has the guy by the scruff of the neck, and is hauling him towards the exit without much effort. He gets tossed out the door, Fresh Prince style, followed by a shower of business cards advertising anger management therapy, and a few hastily scribbled post-it notes ("Sorry, you can come back tomorrow but you're cut off for tonight! Also, here's the contact info for some lawyers that might be able to help you in small claims court, FYI, don't hit them with beer bottles, not a good look"). ]

Can we call that guy an uber or something?

[While Doreen was taking care of the two drunks, Jason had his business phone out just in case. By the time she goes back to him, Jason had reserved a car under Descendant’s expense]

Thanks! We might need to get Eugene out of here too, he's pretty drunk, but preferably like... a good ten, fifteen minutes after Darrell's already left.

Got any bandaids, by the way?

[ She holds up the arm that took the hit from the beer bottle; some blood is soaking through her sleeve! ]

[Jason pretends to wince when he sees the injury. He’s seen much more gory things but he’s still maintaining a civilian cover]

Yeah, come on. There’s a first-aid kit in the break room. You can bring your drink along.

[Jason calls over one of the bouncers and tells him to keep an eye on the remaining drunk customer and to call car service. He then leads Doreen out of the main area and down a hallway where the private karaoke rooms are]

[ She follows him down the hall, surreptitiously peeking into the karaoke rooms. ]

It's not bad! Doesn't even really hurt, it's just messy lookin', you know?
